Just had an interesting conversation with a customer. She said she had someone out from the Johnny Ball advert who quoted she would have to pay about £40 per month for the next 10 years, which works out about £5000. I've looked at the system and its a fully pumped y-plan with no issues at all and the boiler can go back in the same place so in reality that lot from the Johnny Ball adverts have just quoted £5000 for a boiler swap. And some people on here say British Gas false advertise, lol.
British Gas are cheaper than Johnny Ball in this instance, Fact!

It is and it isnt, as they include a service plan equivalent to BG's Homecare 200 which is worth another £11 a month. Still expensive though.

I went out to some one who had BG out and they were quoted £100 per month for 10 years for a boiler swap with only 1 year warranty then home care on top of that not a straight swap but my company would have done it for £2300 tops. Funnily enough they were scared to death to ask for a quote due to BG quoting £12000.

You sure they wasn't telling porkies? 12000 is expensive even for BG.

The cash price for straightforward boiler swap by Help-Link (the Johnny Ball ad) is just under £1800 - a WB with a 10 year warranty.

The £17 a month deal featured in the TV ad does require an up-front deposit of around £500.

So how this lady was quoted £40 a month for 10 years is a bit of a mystery.

Help-Link don't insist on a power flush if the system is reasonable: a mains flush is included in the installation price.

As Doodle said on another thread in relation to customer stories about BG, customers can sometimes exaggerate and embellish.

I saw the quote couldn't believe it it was about £4200 if paid off in one go or just shy of £100 (I think it was about £97) for 10 years I asked if she questioned it to make sure it wasnt just a mistake and apparently she had.

i think all customers embellish and exaggerate things to who ever is in their home at the time. When your quoting on a job people will always mention money and cry poverty to a certain extent.

I take everything I hear off a customer with a pinch of salt and just take each job as it comes and judge everything on its merits.

Yes, but they do give a few million off as a special offer!

BG adverts always say what the customer can save, but don't mention how much the end price is.
