Id say any filter where by you can take the head off counts as a dosing point to be honest. I inhibit most systems this way, as it save getting in the lift or draining a rad 🙂

Anyone tried one yet £52.50 plus vat fm plumbfix, cant be worse than some outthere, 5 yr warranty

I did see the same filter in Plumbfix and it may be a good filter for the price but the no nonsense sticker put me off.

I never said I preferred filters with lids, I said I preferred the spirotech. All I said on the lid front is that they are handy for adding inhibitor rather than jumping in the loft.

there is no way I would install a boiler & then put that nasty looking thing below it! The customer is going to know straight away that it is cheap & nasty!

Label comes off easy dont see what the problem is its a filter it does its job. It has a 5 year manufacturers warranty. so you have to take the lid to put inhibitor in . Who cares grease the o ring with it will be okay and clean the seat the o ring sits on.

I think we can all agree getting chemicals in a heating system is not rocket science so my choice of filter would not be based on this.
The spirotech rep came on site to me today with the sales patter and gave me a mb3 to try out they look bomb proof as far as there build quality two compression nuts. just need to test for my self if it does what it says on the box. so when I have collected some iron oxide sludge I am going to run it around the power flusher in line with a magna clean to see if the Spiro trap mb3 catches it before it gets to the magna clean.I personally am not looking for a filter that holds lots of iron oxide as we clean the system before filter is fitted.and all the filters I go back to that we have installed at service time are all relatively clean except for one of my customers that has old cast iron rads and his filter is full every year.
From a service point of view there are no serviceable parts on the Spiro trap mb3 .where as others have o rings etc to change and more to go wrong.not had to buy any service kits as was sent free ones when they had problems with the red o rings (but not many left now)and I am sure selling service kits for filters is going to be more expense for customers/installers and revenue for filter company's .
I think all filters have good and bad points and every one sees this different and I am sure over the years we have tried different ones this is the list of the filters I have fitted over the years and my reasons.
Spiro tec-never installed the old type as the magnet looked to small.but have always been impressed with the quality.
Boiler buddy - not my choice to install

Magna clean - had there problems with the valves and the red o rings but this is the filter I have fitted most of approx 120 as I believed this was the best filter on the market.
Fernox tf1- did like the different rings you have to install only fitted 1
Magna clean pro 2 -nice filter don't like the push fit fittings and can not see the point of the drain valve only 4 fitted so far.
Worcester system filter -fitted one last week my reason was I was going to install these on all my boiler installs to get the same 7 year warranty on filter as boiler so any problems could be passed on to Worcester.but did not like filter it's ok if fitted under boiler as return enters bottom of filter but if installed above boiler or in airing cupboard configuration does not work out and also MI say installed on return only which is always best but not always possible.so will not be installing any more unless they change it.
Be nice to know what filters members on here have installed in the past and what you install now and why.instead of just saying I fit X and every thing else is rubbish.

I serviced a WB with a 28mm spirotech mb3 today that i installted last year. I had powerflushed before putting the new boiler in so the system was pretty clean. Nevertheless it had trapped magnetite and dirt before it hit the boiler... With the 20 year guarantee its a very impressive bit of kit and unlike all this plastic junk (manga clean, centramag etc) I've never had one leak.
