Plumbing apprentice

So I'm currently working for a pretty well known drainage company (no,not dyno rod) and they gave me the opportunity to do a plumbing apprenticeship with them which I obviously agreed to. So I now go to college 1 day a week and am about half way through my first year, only problem is the company I work for don't actually do plumbing and part of the course is work based evidence and the guys in the college have pretty much told me it they need to see me fitting a bathroom or something along them lines in my second year.


so one of my first questions is: has anyone been in the same boat as me? Or has any advise for me


secondly, is there anyone on swansea area that would/knows anyone that would allow me to do this part of the course with them as in let me work a few days with them at the time they need to see my on site evidence or work a few weekends to build up some experience.


And lastly, for my level 3 (3rd year) they cover gas, it's probably safe to say this will be more hassle than it's worth while working with a drainage company trying to get work based evidence, assuming the company will even pay for me to do my gas. So, is there any good quick training courses I could look into that would give me the equivalent that I could pay for myself as an alternative to the L3?

the training provider for our apprentice offered to put him through his HETAS because we couldnt give him any gas work as we dont do it. they just had to sign a form saying he was ineligible to do the gas.
