Rising Main Brass Stop Taps

Just about to have a new 25mm mains supply buried to the road and need a brass stop tap to connect to the MDPE pipe and wondered if there were any recommendations for a good quality tap that hopefully won't restrict any flow.

It has to be a 25mm MDPE to 22mm copper and looking at some taps it looks like regardless of the outlet size, the bodies are the same so a 25mm x 15mm tap will have the same body as a 25mm x 22mm thus restricting flow down to a 15mm bore.

You will be fine with any decent valve pegler is a good brand

Just looked at the Pegler website and it seems the 25mm MDPE to 22mm copper is under the Kuterlite range and costs a eye watering £109 😱mg_smile:

Is that what a good stop tap costs or are these designed for off shore oil rigs??

Is that from plumb centre as there always 3 - 4 times the piece

But tbh go with the best one you can locally there all near enough the same

Thanks for the link, the 25mm MDPE stop taps on the site you linked are less than £10 so why on earth are the Kuterlite ones so MUCH more expensive (cheapest I've seen is still £65)?

It's a brand / name same as off brand vs Samsung etc

how about using a 25x3/4" FI adapter, then a 3/4 brass hex nipple, then a 3/4 screwed lever valve, wont get any less restrictive on that....actually if you got a MI (male iron) adapter you wouldn't need the nipple.

I've never used a lever valve as a main stop tap, but I believe you can do so now.

I originally thought lever valve but when the guy for the water board came to inspect our proposed plan I asked about this and his response was we'd need an stopcock at first entry into the house and then we could fit a lever valve as a fail safe but tap needed to be first.

Anyway, I've just decided to bite the bullet and get the Kuterlite K777 after reading horror stories about cheap stop taps leaking or even popping off. I managed to get it for £50 which may be overkill for a domestic job but at least its got 25 years guarantee, WRARS approved and a good flow rate.
