The garage had got to the point where I could barely get in the door. We're boot saling this weekend so I got my boxes of boot sale gear out and put them in the trailer ready for Monday. This left me a nice gap and I decided that it would be a good time to try and have a tidy up. I've been spending a couple of hours a day at it and not making a lot of progress.

I made the breakthrough yesterday afternoon when I almost fell over the metal cut off saw that was bought about ten years ago for a job and not been used since. I looked at the slight rust coating and decided that I was unlikely to ever use it again. Into the trailer it went. That box of old tools that I never use, into the trailer. Do I really need 4 5" angle grinders? No, into the trailer with two of them. 3 Circular saws, into the trailer with the smallest that's not been used for over 5 years. Cordless recip that's not powerful enough for me, into the trailer.

I had about a third of a trailer full of gear at the beginning of the week (8x4 trailer). It's now full and I'm having to build the sides up. It's quite therapeutic getting shot of all this stuff that I never use. It's also nice to walk into the garage without falling over stuff.

If you don't sell it, put a wee ad in the local shop and give it away to young apprentices that are struggling to buy tools or your local Scouts would be only too happy.

we have a lockup and a big shed. They're both crammed with gear. Much of it hasn't been used in years, but it cost a fortune so can't bear to sell it for practically nothing!

I was thinking that way but standing looking at tools that I've not used for years and am never likely to use I may as well get some money for them as have them taking up valuable space which can be better used. I can't for the life of me work out why I've got 4 5" grinders. There's a 750w and an 1100w Makita, a 600w de Walt and a 750w Black and Decker. I know that I bought the De Walt when I was working away from home and forgot to take a grinder but I've got no idea where the Black and Decker one came from.

I'm going to have to squeeze the genny in somewhere as well so that I can demo the tools for punters as well.

Its true I guess. We've got about four 4" angle grinders, 3 chop saws, about half a dozen little tile cutting machines. Loads of welding torches, it goes on and on. (This is just the stuff that I know we have and won't use!)

Money in the pocket is better than tools rotting in the garage.

lol, mines due for a clear out too.

just made me think.....

your selling and anothers filling........where did this b&d come from in a few years time.?.

pass the buck literally.lol.

My sheds been full for months and after hurting my hand sunday I have had a good clean out. The shed was at the stage that you open the door stop stuff falling out and grab what I need and shut the doors quick. Now I can walk in, get to the back, get what I need and walk out. It's great and the wallet is fuller from all the crap I took to the scrappy.

My van sounds like your shed Simon ! Always clean it and tidy everything up at the weekend but by following Friday there is crap everywhere!! Do enjoy tidying it and sorting it tho, nothing better than a clean, organised van that smells like my new magic tree air freshener
