My friend moved into an ex council house and wanted me to go and have a look at the heating. She was complaining of the heating coming on when she turned on the hot water. I thought this will be straightforward enough - c/h zone valve will be stuck open.
I went to have a look tonight and found that on both zone valves the grey and orange cables are cut at the valve and not connected to the junction box, only the earth, brown and blue are connected. When you switch the power on at the fuse spur the boiler fires up without any call from the programmer.
The junction box is a Danfoss BEM 4000 which I have never seen before.
I'm guessing someone who has no idea how to wire up an S plan has thrown it together just to get it coming on. I'm thinking i'll end up replacing the junction box and rewiring it all.
Has anyone come across this before?
