I'm getting a large extension put on the side of my house and I need to vent the boiler now through the slates.
Present boiler is a Procombi 85 he (rubbish I know but fitted 2 yr ago by previous owner) the parts I need total £400 for the flue etc.
I really begrudge paying this as the boiler was prob only £500 ish to start with.
I'm undecided on what to do ;
1)keep bolier and buy flue as it works fine and buy new when it conks out
2) Get a 40 kw combi
3) get a system boiler and cylinder
Money is tight as the extension is costing way more than I'd anticipated.

Anyway back to question - Can I just buy any slate vent and get the slates put on the roof and job water tight and decide on boiler later or does the slate vent have to match the boiler ?

Surely they're much of a muchness ?

I'm a self employed spark so kind of know enough about your game as worked with plumbers for years.

Cheers lads

Also begs the question where does the flue currently go ?. And DON'T do it yourself even though you think you know your game

Probably horizontally to the outside wall, which will no longer be an exterior wall after the extension is constructed.

I'd recommend investing the money in to a proper decent system, might cost you more now, but will save you loads in the long term.

flue must be designed for that boiler, the lead slate can be made up on site to suit if you have a bench, roll of lead and some oxy/acl bottles.

dont think you can make a wb slate fm your ingredients, ok for soil pipe tho

They're usually zinc or aluminium. A much larger version is required for a tiled roof, even though it's a slate roof, your GSR engineer will buy the biggest he can get and cut it down to size as required. There are strict regulations as to where it can terminate on a roof as well.

Please don't attempt this work yourself. You are not saving money if you die of carbon monoxide poisoning if it leaks!

MORE than enough information has been supplied to the OP now.

As previously stated you need a gsr in to look at your boiler. We cannot and will not give advice on the repair or installation of boilers for your own safety.

Please go to Gas Safe Register | Ensure your gas engineer is registered. or post a thread in the 'I'm looking for a plumber / gas engineer' section of these forums remembering to include your location. If you are gsr please increase your post count to 10+ then send a pm to either Gas man or Redsaw who will then check you and then give you access to the gsr private forum.

Thank you.
