Hello everyone, I'm a gsr engineer and got a buy to let house with a Baxi solo3 standard efficiency boiler. My tenant is eligible for a boiler on a grant scheme (edf) and they want to put in a Baxi solo 15 he, my dilemma is this, the old boiler is about 10/12 and working well. I put a new fan in it last year, but I don't know much about the new ones. I fit Viessmann when I can and a lot of Baxi avantas - the old Remehas - would you keep the old boiler, or swap it for the new one. Tenant says she is happy with gas bill and not bothered either way. Does the new Baxi have an aluminium hex? I hear the have problems with leaky hex and dodgy pcbs and electrodes. What would you guys do? Thanks for replies in advance

If I remember correctly it's all or nothing with the grant schemes. And you get what you get....

Usually buy 'em cheap and stack 'em high....

dont do it solo 3 is far more reliable than solo HE you must be nuts to even consider it ,even though i fit baxi combis i will never again fit a solo he there rubbish

Yup I was thinking along them lines. Never heard anyone say "them new Baxi solo 15he are the bizzo, I fit them all day long" ! The one that's there will probably last as long as the the new one. I've also got the problem of how good is the instal team going to be, I know they've got a day to do the work, and I asked about a power flush which they said they will do, but it seems like a long day to me, I'm worried the workmanship will suffer. I would rather put it in myself, but they won't have that
