Wood burning stoves, quals req'd?

Had an enquiry about fitting a wood burning stove for a customer. Dry stove, no plumbing.
Does anyone know what if any qulifications a chap needs to install this kind of appliance & if it needs to be registered with building control?

you dont need any qualifications, but you will have to pay building control to sign off your work. You would be best to do the hetas dry course and register with a competent persons scheme.

aslo check with building control about any limitation in the local area. ie. smokeless burning etc.....

It is heatas but most of all if you don't have any experience of these a pass on it is a wise move.

Not that i've done it, but i know a few guys who have done the heatas course and it is one of the few you actually do learn a lot from.

Back when a pint was about 45p i did a SFAS (solid fuel advisory service (coal board)) course so that the company i worked for could do solid fuel heating for the council. That course was the best course i ever did in my life. Maybe it was just the old guy who gave it.
