hi fitted a cdi today and the manual that come with it had print missing from pages . i struggled as the filling link page was blank.the filling link kit come with 2 orings i phoned worcester and they said to remove blanks fit orings into where blanks come from and push link in and fix with the 4mm screws. with the orings in the link was very hard to push to the stop tabs.i am now worried as i got home and the manual i have at home and the instructions on the worcester site dont mention these 2 orings.i will be filling the boiler monday do i leave them in or not .also the telescopic flue when removed from the elbow and inserted into an extension does not seem to fit as well as an ext to ext would is this correct when i spoke to the rep he was not clear if the telescopic could be fitted to an ext

many thanks ant

Use some silicone grease to fit link. It is a seperate piece of kit that doesnt come with the boiler and cant recall seing it written in book either. It comes in its own box with a little diagram.
As for the flue, they are all compatable. Pilot drill and self tapper and seal with tape.

the link comes with the cdi as standard . what about the 2 orings where do they go do they go into where the blanks come from. the orings are on the parts listed on worcester filling link instructions but no ref made where to fit them.was i told correct to fit them into the holes where the blanks come from then push link in.

thanks ant

Ok.
The blanking plugs are to be taken out to fit an integral filling loop.
As for o rings, there already on integral filling loop, just push it in and fit securing fixings. You have spare o rings and blanking plugs for your kit.
As i said above, this is an optional extra and not in standard fitting instructions

agree with tipintim, ive fitted loads of CDI's the filling link comes with o rings already fitted to the filling link and also has 2 spare o rings in the box for future use years down the line. its a simple case of remove the 2 blanks from the brass valve bodies and lube the filling link and push it in then fit the screws in to hold the filling link in place. easy.

thanks for that . i am mad at worcester tech help line they told me to put o rings into where plugs come from .sometimes i think they read from a text book.

thank you for the replys will take out the orings tomorrow no wonder i struggled .

the technical help lines at some places can be very hit and miss at times, especially on fridays after 4pm lol.

and yes some do read info off the computer screens, my aunt's ex used to work for a technical line, she sed they just typed in the symptoms of the problem and reeled off a list of possible causes, the more experienced technical guys know the boilers inside out and dont use the lists but the newbies just read it straight off the screen.

if you go to worcestors technical department they have all the info on the computers, are fully trained on the boilers and have boilers mounted on the wall so they can go over to it and speak to you on the phone and see exactly what your seeing - one of hte most impressive set -ups ive seen to be honest. so probably a mis communication - the o-rings are already fitting - take the brass plugs out and push home - secure with the grub screws.

thanks all .when i have phoned worcester in the past the person has been very gened up -just must have been unlucky this time. been back today and removed the orings glad i asked before i filled the system.just not been my wk last wk the nuts that come with the boiler had no thread in them and the fibre washers were all cut in half - must have been a fri after noon packer at the factory lol. fitted lots of juniors and they are easy just cdi alittle different to fit i have to admit i miss a wall hanging template with the clearances on .
many thanks to all

The telescopic flue is the same as the i's. To fit an extension(s) pull it apart and fit the terminal end into the extension and fix with 3 screws (they only give you 2).
Leave the other end connected to the elbow, measure the total flue length then cut the extension (you don't need to be too accurate as you have about 8" of adjustment).
Put the plastic inner collar on the part with the bend then slide the extension into the end to the correct length and fix it with a screw, tape it with a bit foil tape and job done.
The only time you need to separate the adjustable flue from the bend is if it is for a short flue or you need a 45 fitted directly to the bend.
