joint
A joint or articulation (or articular surface) is the connection made between bones in the body which link the skeletal system into a functional whole. They are constructed to allow for different degrees and types of movement. Some joints, such as the knee, elbow, and shoulder, are self-lubricating, almost frictionless, and are able to withstand compression and maintain heavy loads while still executing smooth and precise movements. Other joints such as sutures between the bones of the skull permit very little movement (only during birth) in order to protect the brain and the sense organs. The connection between a tooth and the jawbone is also called a joint, and is described as a fibrous joint known as a gomphosis. Joints are classified both structurally and functionally.
I often find on replacing a boiler I have to unsolder a joint far too close to the ceiling than makes me comfortable!! How do you guy say do it without setting fire to the house, I'm always worried the flame will catch something in the ceiling...

There is drop of water dripping every 10 minutes from a joint between socket and valve. (as shown in the picture).
This was put in place using ptfe tape and tightened to the end. It cannot be tightened any further or remove and refitted with more tape etc.
I believe the leak is so small that it...

Hi all,
I've got a customer who wants me to fix a leak where the toilet pan meets the pan connector. Of course I'd usually take out the pan and replace the connector but for a variety of reasons (rusted screws etc...) it's difficult to move so I was wondering if there was a quick fix that would...
Hi. Probably a silly question to most on here, but is boss white ok to use on compression joints that carry drinking water. I thought it was but my mate thinks its non drinking water only. If this is the case what should i use on the joints for our new taps.
Thanks in advance Nigel
I have just moved into a new flat which has an unvented hot water cylinder.
There is some very disgusting gunky looking stuff around what appears to be a leaking joint/valve going into the expansion vessel. At first I thought it was from a botched repair attempt using some kind of foam sealant...

After four years of not leaking, the 10mm compression joint on one of my son's TRVs has decided to weep -resulting in combi pressure loss within a few days. I have slackened it off a tad and retightened and will keep an eye on it. It was already very tight, so I am expecting it to still weep and...
Even putting a rad back on after decorating? May have just got bitten by a leak occurring once hot in that situation. Would mean charging more than min labour in some situations/losing job.
On 3/4 pipe, with a new 3/4 olive (brass, not copper alas) under a bath, on the further away of the two feeds, with bugger all space between wall, pipes and bath, using grips, tap spanner, adjustables, jaw dropper, no matter how many blood vessels I burst, are you guys all going to hand on heart...
I'm about to connect a replacement electric shower.
The shower has a 15mm plastic spigot and the cold feed has a 15mm brass compression joint.
I've read I should use a new copper olive, but should I also use a jointing compound or ptfe on the olive to ensure a good leak free connection.
Any...

Hi there
I wondered if anyone could help. We have recently connected central heating system (combi) and all the runs are in copper with cast iron radiators.
We thought we were leak free but have since discovered a drip on an elbow that was on a concealed run. Its dropping the pressure in the...
So the elbow pan connector has been cemented into this 6 or 7 inch pipe and not set straight so pan is emptying slowly and I have to fix it.
So after taking the toilet out, how is best to get the pan connector and concrete out?
SDS chisel?
Also, a lot of concrete will end up going down the...
Hello there
I am a new member and really need a bit of expert advice, the waste pipes from the bathroom sink and bath
joint up into 1 outflow pipe which is in a reducer/insert going into a 6" cast iron pipe which protrudes from the masonry wall by about 2 inches. There is a seepage/leak around...
Trying to add a bidet shower hose to my toilet. Am stuck at the joint as to what I would require to join the tee compression with the toilet tank. I have seen in you tube videos that the copper pipe slides in the tee compression hole but I got a piece of copper pipe and it just doesn't go in the...
Hey guys,
has anyone ever come across a rubber olive before? Every valve I've ever fitted up until now has a copper/brass olive compression joint onto 15mm pipe but this new radiator valve that I need to use for the type of radiator I have uses rubber olives to compress onto the 15mm pipe...
I need to swing out a 90 15mm copper fitting to fit a new radiator valve (marked 1 in photo).
Can I apply heat to the 90 degree joint to loosen the solder and pull the 15mm pipe
to the correct position so the valve fits the rad?
Does such a thing exist (40mm to 42mm chrome plated brass compression joint)? I'm have a nightmare trying to marry my shallow seal bath waste with existing 42mm pipe-work. Thanks in advance for any help.
