have anyone installed the new worcester compact boilers, put my 1st one in today and i'd be interested to hear others peoples thoughts on them

I needed a as small as possible combi for a awkward install so my hand was forced, and considering the price I was expected to be impressed. In practise however i found the opposite, at one point i started shouting at it 'youre a ridiculous boiler,' its so over complicated.


The case is a disaster, it has these quick release clips under the pcb which broke and jammed open and whats the point of quick release clips when you also i have to take out screws. then the case refused to go back on properly

spent ages taking off the plastic casing surrounding pcb as the screws are tighter than any other screws i've ever come across only to find you wire it from underneath where I had no space

the expansion vessel has to be fitted, doesnt come installed. Once in you have to get your hand round the back to fit the clip. that and the wiring was the most frustrating thing, WHATS THE POINT IN BUYING THE SMALLEST BOILER YOU CAN FIND ONLY TO REALISE IT REQUIRES SUCH AN UNREASONABLY LARGE SPACE AROUND THE BOILER

also it comes with a bracket which attaches to the wall and holds the pipework, the bracket and boiler are impossible to put together and line up on your own and unfortunately i was alone

sorry worcester no stars out of ten from me, a ridiculous boiler. unless forced I wont be fitting one again


i'd be interested to hear others thoughts, is it just me who couldn't get this boiler

I cursed the compact on my 1st install, it can be fiddily, but iv sussed out the awful green clips, tricky case, procedure for expansion, awkward prv, razor sharp jig, near impossible flexi flue bracket & now I don't mind it too much 😉

Just quoted for one of these, as customers previous engineer in London recommended it, but said I would prefer putting in an Ideal Logic. Fortunately she has taken my advice.

now I don't mind it too much

is it worth the high price, doesnt even come with a filling loop or pre-bent copper pipes

I put this up on thread other month , my gripe was that the amount of screws to take out on something to fit !! Why take about a dozen screws out especially in places where they could drop down behind kitchen units etc etc.
The drop down service panel jammed as well along with flue retaining clip snapping very easily.

Bumped into local wozzie engineers and they have confirmed my thoughts and yours ,,,,,,they are a shed of a boiler

I'm sorry but that's a load of **** take

The only way the clips will break / come off the runner is if you undo the quick release mech and let the front panel drop and pop out of the runner easy and simple to put back in if it happens

Didn't you read the manual as it clearly written in there how to wire it l, also you do know you need a min of 100 mm below any boiler gas safe rules so you would be able to unscrew the panel

The clip / retaining pin is not supposed to be removed open / pull out until it locks and doesn't move hang boiler, one screw on expansion vessel and drop into hole , even has a guiding cone and push the clip either with a bit of wood or needle nose pliers done

And what you can't lift and clip / let it drop onto the frame it's easy it's not hard the width of the jig is the same as the boiler and just lift it 25mm higher

Sounds like you and a few others need to go onto a Worcester training day

😀 you get the same mate with any eng same with ideal and baxi well when ideal turn up 😀

Worked on loads shaun,yes reading the destructions helps but the design is pants

Problem is everyone wants / everything is getting smaller so it's getting harder for us engys to replace things as nothing is ever thought out for us (space wise) but there are a few handy tips and just think about things first 🙂

Fitted loads and I don't like them, One last week the guy supplied as he worked for siemens(who own Worcester)

Not looking forward to repairing them in the future either!
