I need to add a two port valve to an existing system. As part of this job I need to add a few compression fittings. Wanted to ask those more experienced is it worthwhile buying (as an example) a Prestex (Pegler) 28mm equal T for £12.80 vs cheaper non-brand at £8.05? Is there real any...

MuPVC waste pipe should NOT be solvent welded to ABS waste fittings. Why?

In reality though, it's done all the time. Most don't realise it shouldn't be done and the reasons why. So why? What are the potential problems and the likelihood of those problems happening over time if an MuPVC to ABS joint is made and brought into service for hot and cold drainage? Is...

Copper pipe cutter for plastic fittings

Hello, I have a traditional “disc” type cutter that you wind down onto the copper pipe but I’m told it’s best to have a cutter or “slice” that leaves a chambered edge on the copper pipe so it clears the plastic fitting O ring. Can anyone recommend the best cutter for 22mm and 28mm copper pipe...

    Mixing metals on compression fittings

Annoyingly I have used a copper nut on a steel isolation valve and the corresponding steel nut on a compression copper fitting (15mm). Should I dismantle and redo? I will have to buy a length of plastic pipe and new olives as well as drain system. Or will it be OK?
