Dear All,
Whenever possible I aim to buy the correct quality product the first time round. Plumbing labour and water damage is expensive, thus, very happy to pay quite a bit more for materials provided it is needed to ensure a lasting product over time.
Your advice will be much appreciated...
Has anyone used the new Polymax fittings from Polypipe? I've just ordered their free sample pack to try them out. From photos, they look almost identical to Hep20.
Hi
I spoke to gas safe today as wanted clarification that it was or was not considered a mechanical fitting using press fittings on gas pipework, the response was that it was to new to call and i would need to speak to the manufacturere, long story short and a lot of call waitiing and i didnt...
Annoyingly I have used a copper nut on a steel isolation valve and the corresponding steel nut on a compression copper fitting (15mm). Should I dismantle and redo? I will have to buy a length of plastic pipe and new olives as well as drain system. Or will it be OK?
Evening All
Can anyone advise me what these fittings are?
Hot water cylinder, 22 mm pipe, is this a male or female fitting as I'm looking to fit a Warwick flange or similar for a shower pump.
Many Thanks
Apologies if this should not be posted here (I have posted to the electricians forum, however just realised the plumbers forum seems to have many more posts covering this mixer unit)
I have a pretty basic question on suitability of a shower digital mixer valve. Checked with the the manufacturer...
I've just moved into my first property and I'm clueless when it comes to plumbing, I'm tight on cash right now so I'm looking for some advice please.
I'm looking for general advice on what I will possibly need to connect a trap to my sink. I have no idea what the white modified connection is...
I would like to add another WC about 2m to the right of existing WC.
The existing soil pipe has only one WC (coming out the wall straight into the soil pipe) and is a straight vertical cast iron 4 inch pipe with a vent at the roof. My plan is to go out the wall with the new WC and then go down...
Hi all,
Got a tiler coming around to tile to toilet and thought i might aswell replace the old toilet.
Problem i can see is if i order a new toilet there is gonna be a big chance that the water feed pipe going to the old cistern will not line up with the new cistern.
I was thinking if i cut...
Bought this discontinued bath and freestanding bath taps from Wickes. The taps were quite discounted mainly due to the fittings that couples the unit to the hot/cold water pipes have been misplaced. So I'm trying to find/buy the correct fittings so I can connect this to the hot/cold water...
Ex gas fitter here. I haven't worked on gas for at least a decade so I'm not up to speed on any changes there may have been since I last worked in the industry.
However, I have recently gone to a family members house who has had a new kitchen fitted. I couldn't help but notice that the gas...
Do you know why some 110 mm soil pipe fittings are easy to push into the soil pipe, whilst other fittings are much, much harder to get in, given that they all need to do the same job of making a gas tight and water tight seal?
Recently I found that I could easily push into the soil pipe the end...
Hello all, I am hoping to get some advice on a small project I am working on at the moment.
I have a lovely old victorian towel rail which I am trying to modify to make it smaller. Its just too big for out house.

Help!
I have uploaded a photo of fittings that have been weeping, for a long time, beneath a sink in my daughters (recently moved in) house. The hot water had to be turned off because of big leak under floor. The pic shows tails from the mixer tap, beneath which is a stop valve, with no...
Hi all
I have just finished the last thing in our ensuite. The thing I was most worried about actually.
I had to re-install the shower valve onto my new pipework.
Anyway, after installation I had a few little drops of water from one of the compression nuts. I nipped up the nut a little more and...
Am sure is not me as I have done end feed fittings before with no problem.
What I am experiencing is that after cleaning up the fitting and the pipe they slip into each other fine but after I apply flux they do not. If I try to turn the fitting on the pipe a lot of the time it is very hard...
Hi, looking at getting into press fit fittings as I like the speed that they can be installed on copper, and without a flame, or a big ugly plastic or compression fitting. They look great and earth continuity is maintained and are tamper proof on copper. The fittings are also inexpensive.
Apart...
