Just following on from the toolbox thread and customers preparation for start of work/arrival.

Started a bathroom on Thursday, bit unusual as they where wanting pine cladding round bathroom and airing cupboard extending. Nice big room in old farmhouse (converted bedroom), new shower enclosure, free standing slipper bath and move wc and move wash basin.
Turns up Thursday morning and the whole room is stripped, wood chip off the wall, airing cupboard has been cleared out of clothes and bedding etc, no floor coverings and even the bath panel is gone off the cast iron bath.

A refreshing change from having to spend the first couple of hours removing soap, shower gel, wet towels, bog rolls, clothes, sheets, blankets and rolling up carpets or lino.

Wow! Lucky you!!

(Until I became a plumber) I thought it was only my wife and me who cleared everything out.

Did have one customer who cleaned WC properly before I changed it. When I commented on how clean it was when I took it out, she said she'd spent a good 15 minutes cleaning it as best she could.

Changed a kitchen sink for a 92 year old recently and she'd cleared out the cupboard underneath. When I finished I asked if she wanted me to put everything back and she said she'd do it. I offered again and said she could tell me where she wanted everything but she insisted on doing it herself. Few days later saw someone else in the village and she said it was just as well I didn't put things back or I'd never hear the end of putting things in the wrong place!

But, as Steve says, these customers are a rarity - especially tenants; no effort from them!!

have had 2 full heatings where the carpets had been removed and beds,cupboards put to one side of the bedrooms. I could not believe how quickly i got the heating installed. just goes to show how much time is spent doing housework.
