Went to do a landlords yesterday on a warm air unit. when i did the walk through during the flue flow test the loft and airing cupboard were filling with smoke further inspection revealed that one of the asbestos bends had cracked and was missing half of itself i could see the wall on the other side of the 45.

the 45 that is knackered was sitting in the spigot of a length of flue which is still in tact. so my question is this.. is there an adaptor i can get to convert it from asbestos to twin wall then renew it from there to the ridge tile.

I am aware of my responsibility's regarding removal and disposal of the asbestos i am just trying to find out if i can convert the flue and renew it from the damaged point onwards??

all responses appreciated and welcomed im out this afternoon so if i dont reply to any of your posts im not being rude im just not at a computer.

thanks in advance

just bumping this up the thread to see if anyone has any ideas other then ripping it out which i did suggest but the custards finances dont allow

sorry, but they are such a waste of space I wouldnt contemplate a repair, if the custard is oap look to a replacement scheme for free various threads on this one or google for info.,

if its a landlord, then he/she needs to spend a little, they are getting a rent back after all!

Go to the Selkirk chimney site. All the information that you will need there.

It would appear that you would have to go back to the appliance to renew flue.

Probably only a couple of extra lengths and a bend or two. Can't be much extra cost
over renewing from airing cupboard.

apart from the cylinder being in the way. great help though thank you

This expense is down to the Landlord, contact him and ask what he wants to do ! its not down to the tenant to pay. Landlords get away with enough as it is !!

it is the landlords. young couple ones lost a job so they are moving back to mums for a bit and letting the place out

Yes there are kits mate along with the krypton factor twisty bends....you'll have to investigate through suppliers though as it's been a while
