I would like to do that for peace of mind but the guy they sent me with seems to know less than me. The guys who have the knowledge are on the breakdowns.

If its safety check they want then do just that. It might not be right but it is what it is. The price what your company gets paid dictates the standard needed to comply.

Everywhere has a price point and it dictates the standard. End of the day you dont have to stay there forever and the experience will be priceless for you.
You have to earn a living so suck it up and get on with it.
The other option is too walk away but can you afford to do that

Good advice.
I still can't get my head around the different standards of work within this industry. Surely to be safe, we do it right or not at all? Believe me I do need the money but I don't thing Gas Safe would care to much if I haven't followed MIs.

I know its mad.. well as long as you cover the 26.9 checks.. legally your okay I guess.

Its basically a generic CP12 you are doing by sound of it.
Check boiler operating.
Switch off spur. Check you have isolation/protection/3amp fuse etc.
Tightness test. WP at meter. Gas off to check FSD if applicable.
Case off check inside/outside case integrity/seals etc. Check flue term position/support etc. PRV term. Condi run/term.
Depending on boiler gas rate on max or BP. FGA on max and min if applicable. & make any adjustments.
Check flame picture if applicable.
Anything untoward will get noted and if required will be put in for further works.

Get a load of PDF MI files on a tablet as more often than not you wont have MI's available.

I do servicing for housing association.... Boiler Service normally consists of.

Tightness test.
Condense trap clean
Gas rates on full rate only. Normally combis, so on high rate.
Analyser high rate only
And safety device.
And obviously your visual checks.
I think the only thing we don't do is checking expansion vessel. Low rate analyser. And working pressure unless it's a gas fire service... And no where on the housing associations cert does it ask for all this. Mad eh.
You should be doing a low rate FGA if MI's state a figure for it.
I have been to many that was dangerously out of spec on the low rate with off the scale PPM.

I was told by my inspector dont do a tightness test on a service. He said isolate the appliance do your service and purge after your done. Gets you out of potential mess

Depends who the job is for. It is not a a standard requirement to do on a standard service for a private customer if no smell of gas but you will be required to do for most housing CP12's.

Tightness test is NOT a legal requirement its only on CP12 form in case you do it and if customer requests it !! most of CP12 work is visual inspection, ring gas safe they will tell you what is required to cover your arse !!!!

Most housing associations ask for them though and it gives you 5 minutes to fill out your paper work

One of the IGEM/UP/1B Edition 3 (2012) notes goes – This Standard may not need to be applied when carrying out routine maintenance, such as servicing.

That's what I was pointing out , housing associations act , want it done, but there is no obligation to do it, in fact you could charge extra to do one if asked, but we all do it as a standard thing,

That's what I did as soon as I was qualified, both oil and gas. Helps no end, especially where I live as Internet connections are so sporadic around here.
I use a pdf reader called iAnnotate and you can highlight parts of the MI for ease of reading as well as adding bookmarks to different sections. It probably saves me a couple of hours a week.

It took about 30 seconds before I could open it on here just. Sorry il try a different format.

This forum isn't that mobile friendly is it?
I can't view the image really so can't make a judgement but what I could see looked OK.
