I'm being told that it is but I don't like to think that it's my name on the paperwork!!!

To the guys who gave there servicing routine, what safety devices do you check other than checking the expansion vessel ??? Cheers

Hi folks. Bit of an update here. I've been on the job 3 days and I'm being advised these "services" are not your standard yearly service like a private job. Apparently it's only a landlords safety check, and a full service only needs to be carried out if the fga readings are out.

Thoughts please???

So in fact your doing CP12 & not servicing, two Totally different things, just make sure that you tick the NO box on form where it says about service, and find out what they are expecting you to do, (in writing as you need to cover your Arse,) Have you spoken to any of the other fitters on the company ?

It's the fitter who I went out with who told me what's what. When I first went in and spoke to the gaffer he was very vague with questions I asked him.

I do servicing for housing association.... Boiler Service normally consists of.

Tightness test.
Condense trap clean
Gas rates on full rate only. Normally combis, so on high rate.
Analyser high rate only
And safety device.
And obviously your visual checks.
I think the only thing we don't do is checking expansion vessel. Low rate analyser. And working pressure unless it's a gas fire service... And no where on the housing associations cert does it ask for all this. Mad eh.

You just need to be very carful with these company's, they usely have a very high turnover of staff, may expect you to cut corners, then if it go's **** up you get the blame, your name on Cert, could work out ok, but protect self ! get written instructions if you can.

Jtsplumbing... Your right there mate. These housing associations will blame you for everything... Good advice. Get everything they want you do in writing. Save your own back.... When hits the fan the housing association will blame you for everything. Never trust them

So you don't do working pressure at the meter? What safety devices are you checking?
I'm finding it really eye opening how some people/organisations are cutting corners like this. It's as if the people who are in the properties don't matter or the the regs for that matter.

Don't do working pressures unless it's a gas fire.... There are gas safe rules and then there are housing association rules... And it seems like the housing association think they rule.... Until hits the...... You know the line lol

Folks I've asked on a few different posts about what and how do you personally check the safety devices on a boiler? Please can you take the time and tell me.
Do you really take the pressure up to trigger the prv or do you actually just operate the prv and hope it deals again? Things like this.

No mate don't touch the Prv on most boilers as they never re-seat. test it works but after service with clean water

Have a read through some manufactures servicing lists and see what they say, I think your worrying to much about things, anyway thought you were doing CP12 work ? and most of that is just visual, I remember some time back either CORGI or gas Safe did an article on what is expected on a service. Anyway the amount the company are giving you to do its not possible to do a full strip service on 12 a day, that's why they only want a fga check done.

I am worrying but only cos I care lol. Even if some of them are filthy.

Then your going to have some sleepless nights, don't let it get to you ! if your company are only asking you to do fga check then just do that, but get something in writing ! (They must a format that they want you to follow) Think you need to spend a couple of weeks along side one of the guys that have been doing it for a wile
