I have been asked to install a standalone bath instead of the originally agreed standard corner bath. The first fix was done months ago and the bath waste was intended to go straight into the floor
into a solvent weld tee that has already been installed and waiting for the bath waste to be glued into it. The finished floor has now already been installed so the solvent weld tee in the floor cannot be changed.

The problem is that the customer has bought a chrome waste, trap and waste pipe for the (not planned) standalone bath and still expects me to install everything as planned. My question is, has anybody connected a chrome bath waste pipe to a solvent weld joint using silicone alone as, in order to use the chrome waste pipe, it will have to be pushed into the solvent weld tee below floor level. I know it's not standard plumbing practice but is there any reason why this wouldn't work ?

I know I could use a compression elbow but this would have to be above floor level and the customer wants chrome all the way.

Thanks in advance for any helpful advice.

Yes but if its the right length it will not show just pop up out the floor and into the compression waste.

They do the pipe same way. Handle carefully as the chrome look coating can flake off when cutting it

You need an 1½" abs adaptor then some chrome euro fittings. McAlpine do them Chrome Plated Brass Fittings - Waste Pipe & Fittings | McAlpine Plumbing Products

Thanks tamz, those fittings look perfect but there's nothing that seems to go from chrome bath waste (40mm I guess) to 1 1/2 solvent weld !

I'd be paranoid even tightening the fitiing for fear of it flaking !

Cut the abs close to or flush with the floor and glue one of these on.

That is an adapter to that daft euro sized pipe so you can come off it with a union or elbow or whatever you like. Put a chrome flange around the pipe.
Mcalpine chrome fittings are better than the usual junk that is supplied with the baths.

Thanks again tamz.

The chrome waste pipe from the bath incorporates a swept 90 degree bend on the same piece of pipe.
The 1 1/2" solvent weld adapter plus a 1 1/2" CP compression adapter should therefore do the trick.
