Hi all, I understand that by 31/12/12 flues in voids need inspection hatches etc etc - what if the flue in the void is not jointed, will this still need access? Maybe a stupid question but wanted to check?

Cheers

Go into the Gas Safe website and look under techinical bulletin, there was a lot of info on flueing in voids

You'd still need an inspection hatch to check the integratety of the flue.
Especially if a different engineer inspected it anually, they wouldn't know if there wasn't a joint or a problem in the void so would have to carryout the appropriate action.

the depth of the floor doesnt matter, if there is a ceiling covering the flue the hatch needs to be a min of 300mm square, if the flue is boxed in along the top of a wall then obviuosly the hatch cant be 300 x 300 if the box is less but it then needs to be as big as possible

i see what you mean but what about above a ceiling with a 18" voide for access that you can get up into and visually inspect the joints. Tight for access with only 18" but you can get up via a hatch and all joints are visual. Not boxed etc.

with you now, have a read at TB008 edition 2 which asks the question in the risk assessment "can you inspect the flue" so if you can that is fine, it is all about leaving it safely
