Glow-worm Fuelsaver 50B Mk II

Evening All

Pilot light failing to stay alight on Glow-worm Fuelsaver 50B Mk II, checked Thermo couple on open circuit and getting 27mv so all good, checked Thermo couple on closed circuit and getting 26mv which according to graph in instructions indicates faulty magnet on gas valve.

Although MI's stop hear I thought I would test across overheat cut off as well. With pilot light on, I get 0mv and according to MI's if overheat cut off is faulty I should be seeing greater than 12mv which I am not so again suggests G/V


Is this common as I don't want to spend £200 on new G/V when it might be overheat cut off regardless of my findings, is there another way to check overheat cutoff?

i always start by cleaning the crud out of the pilot burner, often cures it going out.

Nothing wrong with pilot flame, its enough to make the thermocouple generate well over the 15mv required

Had exactly the same last week and it was the gas valve.
I checked thermocouple and to be completely certain tried a new thermocouple as I had it in the van, just to confirm.
It appears you have done all you can so I would suggest gas valve but I'm sure it wasn't £200. I'll try and check.

thermocouple disconected at gas valve end test with multi meter between inner and outer parts for the mv req with the pilot lit .to be honest i would just put another one one to test itsa easier and they are about £12 . you could check the over heat stat by temp linking it out with a wire BUT DONT LEAVE IT LINKED.

where are you getting thermocouples with an interupter for £3 ? let me know mate

Sorry forgot to say I replaced thermo anyway but not interruptor, this should not matter though? I didn't link out over heat but ran required test, will go back and link out to be sure

Take a good look at the interrupter connection block on the back of gas valve, had one of these with an intermittent connection.
