Morning folks just wondering if I could get an opinion

Fitted a new central heating pump for a customer about five weeks ago.

Didn't think system water looked too bad.

Got a call back about three weeks ago saying that the new pump had failed, capacitor was really struggling to get the pump spinning. I thought it was unlikely but put it down to a faulty new pump. She just called me last night saying that this new replacement pump has now failed. I am now leaning towards a sludged system however the water seemed pretty clear comparatively speaking. Put it this way I have definitely install a new pump onto a dirtier system and it has worked without any issue Can anybody think of any perhaps electrical fault that might cause this type of issue?

I am just a bit reluctant to believe that it is sludge

Forgive my ignorance Simon what makes dab ones better ?? Just inquisitive mate

Not saying its better 🙂 it was all the merchants had on the shelf. Another ups 2 or the dab. After two ups 2 pumps I wasnt chancing it again.

I see, it's a fair comment. I know this system isn't in the best of health as a lot of it is Microbore but I know the customer can't afford to go ripping out pipework at the moment as she lost her husband six months ago. I just want to try and get her over to summer when she plans to look at it all

This one is a mix of 10 and 15 what would you recommend Si? I hoped the mix would be OK for the grundfos. Evidently not!

I am about to fit tomorrow a ups 2 as well I hope I will not have issues like you have got guys.
Usually grundfos is pretty reliable , never had an issue fitting these type of pumps.

Me either mate. This is a first for me. Just enquiring if there are any recommended alternatives

Did think air mate but it actually filled up really nicely. It was actually a surprise
