Thought I'd share this with you guys, as it was news to me.


I'm flicking through the latest BS 6891:2015 Specification for the installation and maintenance of low pressure gas installation pipework of up to 35 mm (R1¼) on premises.


Wow, It is a bit bigger - the previous BS has 37 pages, the latest one has 94. Better be a good read.


No way! This looks different now!
The tables to calculate the pressure loss don't give us the discharge any more.
The new tables give us the pressure loss per meter of a pipe work depending on flow rate/heat input. Smart!


There are new figures for pressure loss of fittings (equivalent length in m):
15mm copper:
45 bends are 0.15 m
90 bends are 0.20m
90 elbow is 0.40m


22mm copper:
45 bends are 0.20m
90 bends are 0.30m
90 elbow is 0.60m


Also, we have pressure loss figures for a "T", depending on which way the gas flow is entering the branch.


There's more to digest...
