Hi All

This is my 1st post as I'm an Electrician from the sparky forum

Anyway, this is probably my 5th s plan wiring job and haven't had any problems till now 🙁

existing Oil boiler downstairs
2x new tanks in loft fitted by plumber
2x HW valves in loft
1x CH valve in loft
1x standard Honeywell room stat
1x Hortzmann 2 channel programmer

On first switch everything fine, plumber happy. Customer asked me to set programmer to auto coming on and off 2 times per day, again everything fine no problems

Next day customer feels chilly between these times and switches programmer to 24HR - nothing happens exempt boiler fires and you get this gurgling sound in the pipes near the boiler going up to loft
Customer phones Plumber who asks customer to check pressure gauge - All ok.

Plumber says must be the HW valve not opening call Electrician
I go round and customer says its working now back on the auto setting of programmer.
So with the CH on I turn the room stat down and go check valve - Valve operates
Turn stat up and valve operated - all OK
I also double checked my wiring in wiring centre making sure I hadn't gone wrong - All ok.

Customer has phoned me today saying same things happening - he's been away and everything fine - sets to 24H and nothing

Is this a programmer issue?

Getting a bit stumped.

Cheers

Jon

Something like a Drayton LP522 - Gives you your 2 channels (HTG & HW) 5 days (Mon-Fri) & 2 days (Sat-Sun)

lp522.jpg

The LP522 programmer is our intermediate programmer which offers separate timings for heating and hot water.
The LP522 has a 5 day / 2 day programme option which allows you to set different ‘on’ and ‘off’ periods for weekdays and weekends which suit your lifestyle patterns. You can set up to three separate heating and hot water periods per day. The advance boost button can be used to give you 1, 2 or 3 hours of heating and/or hot water in advance of you set time periods – this saves you having to reprogram if you unexpectedly require a one off burst of heating or hot water.
The LP522 provides flexibility for those who have very different lifestyle patterns on weekdays and at weekends. If you require daily flexibility our LP722 may be more appropriate for your requirements.

Hope this helps, when it comes to controls I follow the rule of KISS - Keep it simple stupid. 😀

good advice above, my choice always Honeywell CM907.

I've had nothing but problems with Honeywell programmers at the moment. They seem to get to 18 months then pack in. It's a shame as I've always rated Honeywell but now just use Drayton.
