I now have evidence that Worcester installers truly believe that they (the individual) are the best thing since sliced bread!

Chap I know loosely through previous employment and the merchants is a Worcester enthusiast. He's in my face book news feed and regularly promotes his business via that and twitter.

Now I have no issues with that it's sensible and free so why not, but if you are going to put pictures of your work in the public domain at least make it a decent job!!

chap had installed a UFO filter, inline scale jobbie and a shock arrestor and issued a picture under the heading three things only good gas installers will fit.

However, my attention wasn't captured by those first infact the bright white push fit tee used to fit the shock arrestor initially grabbed my attention closely followed by the now un level pipe work due to the push fit and pipe not being measured properly. Then my gaze was caught by the puddle on the chipboard floor where said item had been fitted which then led me to see that the pipe clips were all over the place with no rhyme or reason.

Now my plumbing eye is passing over the photo I see it's in a loft no pipe insulation in sight. 22mm hot and cold right up to around 600 from the boiler (cold I can dismiss but the hot pipe???). Then I'm thinking it's a UFO filter so you be better off fitting a magnetic blue peter badge for all the good it'll do the system (let's not forget addey binned this design for their own sale).

i had to fight every fibre of my being not to add a comment "and the truly great gas installers also bring a spirit level!"

i dont know if he is part of the forum and if he is nic sort it out! It's embarrassing!

Rant over........ For now any way

The clips are terrible...always make them even or they look horrendous lol what a gimp!

Joking aside that's the "before" photo right? He changed it to an E/F tee after and extended the pipe yeah?

Also you can't see in that picture but the boiler looks extremely close to the floor in another picture.

I mean I've seen A LOT worse I'm just saying I wouldn't be promoting myself with that particular job.

Three things good gas fitters fit....

All comes down to customers budget. Some only want to pay for no frills - so they get no frills

The irony is I bet that IS his best work and he is proud of it!
Using a pipe bender & a minimum few of soldered connectors would be beyond the ability of most.

I get the feeling some people / contractors don't know any better.

One of my competitors shows a lot of their work on their website and facebook page.
The had a boiler install that the flue was too close to an opening window, an the window was open for the photo.

Needless to say, I informed the relevant authority and about a week later the photo was not on their website.

Love to know what the outcome was.

If I was displaying my work via public domain to gain more work, id of used my bender (im sure where all guilty of not bending pipe where we could sometimes) and made sure it all looks near it only needs a little bit of copper and a solder tee and it'd look 10x better at least to someone who dosnt have to much of a clue

Those savage cretin customers never appreciate the art of nice bend, they box them in after we go :nono: haha

Why has he gone upto 22mm on the hot?

In all fairness I have seen a whole lot worse also hell of a lot better though.

I like to keep my clips in a line where possible. Don't think I've ever used a 45 except on 28mm upwards (I'm a scrawny little runt so bending 28 is a nightmare) and that speed fit tee looks like an afterthought.

one fitting i always have is 1/2inch female iron center end feed tees tees handy for pressure vessels on water heaters and shock arrestors prvs etc

maybe he's got a bender like mine a Rothenberger that's wrinkles every bend and they always look ****ed the formers looks twisted I'll be buggered if I'm buying a new one though:whatchutalkingabout
