I recently posted re Worcestr bosch fitted by non gas safe

The guy from gas safe visited and found the flue was not been sealed to the structure of the building and issued a at risk notice. Gas safe have now told me you will need to employ a Gas Safe registered engineer To fix the unsafe gas work

Just wondered how hard it will be to get a registered gas fitter to come round and fix the flue he used silicon to seal the gap on the outside wall and should have fitted a support bracket on the flue extension . Also what else needs to be done

The guys details have been past on to HSE it seems he registration had expired.
Thanks for any help you might give

Where was it not sealed? Worcester Bosch boilers allow the outside to be sealed with just the black outside sealing ring...

Sand & cement or fire rated expanding foam would suffice...

Not a big job, including fitting a bracket, maybe 1 hours work for an engineer?

Glad nothing too serious was thrown up!

whats your location? any competent engineer will sort this out for you in a hour or two. Im sure somebody on this forum may live near by and be able to correct the fault and get the boiler commissioned and working for a reasonalbe price.

that wont pass an inspection from gas safe register anymore, the foam if its trapped can under certain conditions crush the flue as it expands, also the inspector wont be able to prove its fire rated, have to assume the worst so therefore will not be able to state its safe

sorry having a traffic warden type moment, in reality if i saw if on a landlords i'd probably mention it on the form but not do anything

had one last week, foam had pulled flue apart slightly on expanding and then the custards filled the cupboard with crud and it fell apart eventually, just glad I spotted it in the dark recess of the cupboard!

I would use fire cement as it comes in a tube and applied with a mastic gun or plane sand & cement
Have you thought about plaster board PU foam it wont expand as much as normal foam + its fire resistance

No, plumbaflue is a high temp silicone. This is a ready mixed mortar in a tube. Think it's labelled as pointing mortar.

I come across loads of installs with just the collar that's being fitted, an that's acting as the seal
