Is this the stuff to use to seal a gas pipe as it goes through a sleeve internally. I went back to one I had sealed with this a few years prior and it had turned green

There wasn't no, it hadn't pitted it or anything just turned it green. Is that what is usually used to seal sleeves
 
Also is there any truth in not using plastic talon clips for gas pipes externally sure I read somewhere they said not to because can go brittle?
 
I was thinking about the brass ones it's external maybe a tiny bit safer with brass
 
Yes, FJC is pretty expensive though for some putty!
Standard talons are UV stable, not sure about the new coloured ones though
