Argh, just when I am looking forward to a weekend...

Worked a 10 hour day today to get her a working toilet (did a lot more than that in the 10 hours of course!) as she's decided now to move back in this weekend before her only bathroom is done.. Had to chuck a few hours labour into cleaning her house up today in order to mess it up again on Monday when we finish off..

Got a phone call at 8pm from her. As soon as I recognised her number my heart fills with dread. A call at that time on a Friday from a bathroom install customer means only one thing usually!! Just missed the call so phoned her back. 'Oh sorry Keiran, I've just got this new mobile and I'm thoroughly confused with it..'

Anyway, we finished all the tiling in this bathroom today. One wall which we were going to originally tile to half height, she asked us to paint instead. What she didn't say until tonight at 9pm was she still wants half height tiling on it. Wish I had been told that before and I wouldn't have bloody well bothered plastering the wall as I was only doing it to remove cosmetic damage to the wall from removing the original half height tiling on there..

So anyway, can it be done now she says?? Yes of course it can, but we've used all the tiles we were going to use on that wall for the extra areas you asked us to tile on the other wall. They are one week special order and you won't have a basin fitted till we've done the tiling. As we've used the labour saved on not tiling that wall to plaster your wall and ceiling and fit you some downlights for free you are going to have to pay. And I want paid for the bathroom install invoice and we can add that as an extra.

She is a nice customer, just completely clueless about anything to do with building work really.

Rant over..

People sometimes just appreciate the impact of a small decision. I dont think they are thick, frustrating maybe, but at the end of the day its an expensive room and needs to be right. I think as long as you can keep them informed re additional costs its not really an issue. Just bloody annoying lol 🙂

Better them being dumb than awkward lol you just get the both rolled into one kieran,

I think she will be fine with it being an extra to be honest now I've explained both bits. No issue going back and doing it in a week or so once the tiles arrive as long as I don't have to wait for my £5.5k for another week!
