I have a insurance job to try and rescue a poorly installed quad shower the customer wants to save the tiling if possible and has a few spare so fingers crossed it may work , the loss adjuster allowed em £1500 that will just about cover materials. Kop

What and how did you do the watertight floor mate?
Used a mapie tanking kit H comes with instructions simply prime the area , apply tanking liquid, fit the waterproof membrane tape, paint over the edges of the membrane and up the wall, I will then tile the floor and add the bottom row of tile. 👍

My hell this week all vp stuff had to re make the shower valve around 5 times due to slack threads

Been a long week chaps I've done to much feeling burnt out the old body is aching knees are shot 🥴🥴 done loads of making good and tiling on that old cottage bathroom , this gas run totally replaced nearly a 30 m run all all swapped over and tested and made good , a kitchen sink, washing machine, and gas hob this afternoon into a 20mm quartz worktop that was fun clips were for a 40 mm the fitter didn't allow for fixing it down probably thought it would get stuck down 7 pm on a Saturday finally got in the van, then had to do the shopping for us and my elderly neighbour 8.40 pm walked through my front door. Ohhh the fun non standard sized tiles 😀
You got it Shaun 😭 the thickness is the real problem don't think there's one the same and bent like a banana 🤣 is what it is I guess nothing a grinder can't sort out will put the worst ones aside for replacement. Cheers kop

Wouldn't look right on a 300 mm square tile Shaun but I know what your saying bud , I am putting a bed down and back buttering each tile to help level them and using a tile leveling wedge system ball ache but it needs doing won't be perfect but its the rustic cottage look . Regards kop 👍

My personal life is not something I talk about on here but the few I get on quite well with know I haven't been working for some time. This week I have been helping a friend through the heat geek course. It's literally the closest I've come to a heating system in many years 😩.

Final push on this one chaps tilngs complete , lifofin used to seal the slate just now , final fix tomorrow . Kop

I’ve worked through the pandemic, only things that are different is: our customers attitude - some think the jab is the be all and end all. Also our working policy is to wear a mask still until August. I was and still am undecided about the jab. PPE has remained the same, gloves and mask. Minor supply issues.

Morning everybody.
  1. Hope you are all well. What have you got on today / the rest of this week?
  2. How are we all feeling? I think we need help each other out a bit when we're in times like these. Hope you're doing okay.
  3. When are you up for your jab? - Do you know yet?
  4. How's work, is it still trickling through or has it dried up? Or perhaps you're booming at the moment with boilers breaking left right and center.
  5. What PPE extras are you taking?
  6. Which suppliers are open physically? Which are online only? Where are you getting your stuff from?
Answer all or any or nowt. Let's see if we can check in and help each other out.
Question to anybody out there..... would you say 6 foot 5 is too tall to become a plumber ????

It's a long way down mate 🤣🤣 seriously Ive a mate 6 ' 2" and his back is shot it can take its toll on your body over the years . Kop

I can attest to bad back / you have to watch what you do also it’s a pain eg kitchen cupboard/ tight lofts

I’m on this. Can say it’s probably been the most awkward I have done

Nice work chaps looking good, i've got 3 more to do and then I'm thinking of not doing anymore, they just take to long to complete and are working out quite expensive as a consequence, I'm falling behind on boiler and heating work which is better paid and quicker to turn over I think I'll take a step back from bathrooms for a while . Cheers kop

Looking at 3 on Sunday afternoon. But agree they seem to be taking longer to do.

It’s when everything is hidden away it all takes longer, used to just cut two notches in bath panel and run pipes to basin- can’t imagine doing that now!
Also wall hung toilet - frame, boxing, hardibacker, tiles, often built in shelving etc - 3 days or more. Just whack in a close coupled an hour or so.

I’ve got this atm they don’t like the mcalpine trap on the bath and the legs that came with the bath they supplied (old style plastic cast iron roll)

Tiling this week and next, floors for a change. 13 sqm of 600 x 600 porcelain to start, then onto a 3 part Victorian look alike through the rest of the kitchen and up the hallway.
Day off it tomorrow to fit an oil combi.

Roll on 10th September, week away to Marton Mere in Blackpool with wife and granddaughter.
Ready for some down time.

Today I finally closed the family newsagent after 78 years. Last night, I mopped the floor before going to bed and was feeling a bit mournful about it all. Then I tried to pay a bill using the stupid internet banking system they insist I use in Italy (I much prefer cheques), wasted ages on the computer, and finally got to bed after 10.30 and remembered exactly why I'm so keen to leave Italy and get back to plumbing.

Today I feel like I've served my sentence. Lots of magazines etc. to count and return tomorrow - it will be interesting to see how many titles I have in stock. My guess is around 700 (there was more in stock but the distribution firm hasn't supplied me with much in the last week or two as it knew we were closing).

Combi conversion this week. Baxi Solo BF out and a Main Eco Compact 30kw in. Brick was best match we could find, cement hasn’t set yet in that photo 😂

Excuse the wire too, old guys a retired electrician and he’s upgrading the board and putting in a fuse spur at the same time.
