Your opinions on this van please

looks like its led a hard life but could still be a good buy,if its near you it may be worth a look, things to look out for on the hdi,you want to see the engine stone cold, grab the hoses that feed the rad, they should not be hard/under pressure if they are walk away but if they are soft thats a good start,it should start instantly from cold if it dont the starters shot, and it should go into gear easily and pull like a train,if the side doors dont shut properly thats normal they just need adjusting and the door locks wear out quick but are cheap to replace

Gasman has been had with engine problems on these and he is correct on what he suggests, also the gearbox can cause fault, accelerate hard in first gear then foot of all pedals it should glide to a smooth stop if it don't then the gearbox is on its last legs

Thanks for advice guys, will report back if I go to see it but might be better off looking for something else.

I'll be selling my Combo soon if anyones interested then PM me and I'll give you details. Only selling as I'm getting a company van next month.

Message to mods - Not sure what the rules are on advertising here so if this contravenes them then please remove.

As Resolute above I am looking to get rid of my 05 Citreon Dispatch due to getting a company van again but not sure of the rules on this.
Could a mod advise?

Anyone selling their vans as above, if you PM all details to me i'll give it serious consideration. I have to be able to fit a 125 motocross bike in the back though haha, a Dispatch is probably the smallest I can go.

Thanks in advance, I think I might be more confident buying from someone on the forum - don't ask me why I don't know any of you! haha

I did some plumbing in a funeral palour once. They were yet to open but already had this sort of large marquee set up in the place to keep the bodies chilled. You could hear machines in there going about their business. I had to join on to an overflow coming out from it and run it into a nearby WC. Worked there alone and at night too. Eery.

I'd sell mine as I want an LPG van, I've got a 52 plate Renault Trafic 100dci 6 speed in blue with a roof rack and pipe box, twin side doors, nearly done 130k, plenty of life left in it!

I'm after something with <100k plus some service history, thanks though. Stick it in the for sale section you might get a buyer there 🙂

I have owned one for a while now, all in not too bad a van.
The engine should be good for 130,000 if not a lot more in general depending how well looked after.I believe its a slightly re engineered Mitsubishi unit.
It is fairly narrow so good for those tight spaces around town.
Holds the road fairly well.
Parts not too expensive.
fairly mechanically sound.
great economy if driven well.
Never failed to start.

Its had its issues thou like many vans
cam belt is an arseache to change, and expensive.
engine access is a bit iffy.
Water pump seals can fail.
Interior trim not that robust like the door handles.
Bit tight with 3 upfront.
suspension a bit agricultural as well as the gearbox but mechanically simple.
Sliding door rollers can snap off, but door is light enough unlike My Transporter T25 which is a pig to sort the sliding door when it goes.

New I load is a corker, great van.
You tend to pay the money for a Transporter its about the badge with them.
Have you looked at a hiACE?
Do you need the space?
Ford Escort 55, thats a great little van, easy to work on, parts are cheap solid simple engine.
