Basin fixing for dry lining walls

Can anyone advise me on fixings to mount a corner cloakroom basin on dry lining walls? I want it to be good and solid, you know how kids love to lean on and swing on them!!! Any advice on fixings and methods gratefully received! Thanks.

You would have been best to have had a pattress put in behind the wall. You could allways cut a piece out of the wall and put some wood behind. Other option is hollow wall fixings as a last resort.


Also if you do use these id use some hard as nails aswell.

If you want it sturdy you will have to cut out and do a bit of woodwork, no other option.

you could always try the spring toggle fixings as i find them pretty good ... but i have never tried swinging from them and i alway using big chunky ones where possible

whatever you do dont use curly wurly pig tails. Dont laugh i had to rehang 32 1600 x 1000 double rads in an office block that supposedly someone who knew what they were doing had used.

if you have solid walls behind the plasterboard i would be inclined to go straight through into the solid wall. if not then as acecharly and use hollow wall anchors.

id just add to all the above lots of silicon then when they swing on it they will take half the wall with it and the second time you can get some ply in the walls

Is this a job for metre long flexis so that when the basin hits the deck the place doesn't get flooded?

More seriously, I would suggest drilling through the plaster board to find out what is behind it, and how far away it is, before deciding what to use.

Once you hit whatever is behind the plasterboard and start drilling, you will know what kind of anchorage is possible.
