Could it be the sprinkler system water supply, but due to being on a meter rather than an uncontrolled expensive deluge of water, the occupier has to nip into the loft, flush the handle, this then discharges a controlled amount of water onto the fire thus saving the property and a huge water bill.

Wales and west had turned it off as CO detector kept going off. Flue in void. No access. BG had serviced it in April last year.

It amazes me that gas safe installers can leave a job like this and think its acceptable

The fact that the combustion point in the flue had been snapped off and then filled with god knows what was more of a reason to turn it off id have thought.

What more can you say?

Reminds me of a site in Gillingham when I was a kid. Bog was wooden privy hut on 4 crossed planks over deep pit. You walked across the planks to the hut and did your business through the hole in the middle. Fine until one of the planks broke. Poor bloke inside was never the same 🙂

A certain local authority I once worked for had a childrens home with 2 gas supplies: MP supply at front with the meter buried halfway in the tarmac of the drive (kinda like a buried box but without the box), old LP supply at back across fields that used to feed a laundry. Doing a load of building and groundworks there found the old supply (no meter) was still live and pipe was only about 3" below ground. Builder wanted it out of the way as it was holding up his work. Phones gas board to chop off supply and they say need to contact shipper etc. so about 6 weeks delay. Looked at very dodgy rusty pipe and thought "I reckon it's leaking", couple of taps with a spade and a slight leak, phoned in as an emergency and supply chopped off and everybody happy within 2 hours!

This pump has given up the ghost, Ive been asked to change it. Spot the work that needs and ought to be done...

PS
Dont know why the photo has gone on its side..

Yep plus its a 150mm bronze pump so gotta change the pipework and weve got the service valves on the primaries, shouldnt be any but if there are should be full bore with levers removed....do love the air vent though 🙂

Was unsure where to place this but came across this whilst looking for a parking space

You were a long way from home mate, that`s the one in Oxford I found last year and posted in another thread.

Im in oxford at least twice a week at the minute furthest up I go is Banbury. Had a call out there last Friday night get all the way down the m40 just about to hit the m25 and end up getting another call out 5 minutes from the previous one got home at 5am in the end!

Jeeze, that`s a big area to cover mate.

I was in the school next door and could see from there that that's not 1800 between flue terminal and tank.

you will crap yourself if you ever need to work on one, though luckily most have a self destruction feature, rendering them scrap

Gawd! Haven't seen one of them in years. Which museum was it in? 🙂
