Hi, carried out a service on a potterton profile 40e put the case back on fired up the boiler and using leak detection spray tested the case seal. Case seal was bubbling in both top corners and slightly down the side. Have ordered a new seal but was wondering if anyone has ever fitted one before? Isit just a case of remove the old one and place the new on in there or does it need to be stuck in? Any info would be much appreciated thankyou. Also once complete should there be no signs of leaking at all? Read something about a tolerance but a bit unsure on that. Thanks

the new seal should come with an adhesive back so just remove the old and fit the new in place.

The Potterton Profile is a positive pressure boiler isn't it? You are not allowed any leakage through the seals of a positive pressure boiler, and if there is any leakage, it's classed as ID and the boiler needs to be disconnected until rectified.

I have very little experience with this particular boiler but was looking for a bit of advice so thankyou for the second reply... On a side note I rang a "senior" gasman in my company and he said use fire cement this will seal it?! Surely not good practise!?

Yeah he said he has done it a few times now and seals it but I have the seal on order for the morning anyway so was just after a bit of info. thankyou very much for your help, appreciate it.
