.....is 120 ok for cleaning copper pipe? I'd like to try it instead of steel wool and any recomendations would be helpful.

As an apprentice I was told not to use emery paper on copper, can't remember why though.
I would use the cleaning strips designed for the job

I usually use those pot cleaner things. Also keep some sandpaper, the yellow stuff that comes on a roll. I still use steel wool on occasion for wiping the solder off unsweated pipes.
Steel wool is also better for taking the paint off a heated pipe.

I read in an ancient plumbing book that emery shouldn't be used if you are going to solder as whatever is in it will react with solder. I think using emery & then steel wool is fine. I will have to get in the habit of using abrasive strips. I use emery cloth (not sure grade) on old tarnished pipe or solder fittings & steel wool last. I steel wool new pipe, but only use the milder grease based flux.

Ha can nothing be done about the station that sells tools and the poofix site links, seems stupid that a plumbing site has this prob, cant the software be tweaked?

I thought it was to do with the software picking sccrew and ttool up as swear words

i use it all the time, not 100% sure if its exactly the same quality as its been a few years since i brought the single strip packs. I can say tho that after i first brought the roll i never thought about going back to the strips, as the quality is very good. I just cut what ever size strips i need, normally 1.5" strips, funny enough because its so cheap i tend to not be bothered about wearing them out and starting a new strip as there plenty left 🙂

AW, can u post a link or pm me with it? Cheers for the advice, I've got a account with them.

if you like to use the cleaning strips then you can buy a 5mx100mm roll of the same stuff from a station that sells tools.
been buying from said station for a while, never noticed these rolls. will get a roll next time, thanks for the suggestion.
