I have a insurance job to try and rescue a poorly installed quad shower the customer wants to save the tiling if possible and has a few spare so fingers crossed it may work , the loss adjuster allowed em £1500 that will just about cover materials. Kop

Unfortunately no, don’t really do servicing, more of a visual, gas rate, FGA 🙁, it’s what the company wants. Don’t think I’ve ever serviced anything at all😩

Bet you wouldn't of left this one 9 years with out a strip down just a FGA and safety check ?? This afternoons entertainment and to top it all it wouldn't stay lit once cleaned out 🤣 a new set of electrodes sorted it . Kop

That's grimy, those ones definitely take ages. Had one last week that hadn't had a service in the 12 years its been fitted, was an absolute state, especially as the ceiling had come down at some point and the expansion vessel at the back (ariston micro genus he, so its exposed) was covered in huge chunks of plaster, that was fun to replace. The inside was also full of grit and flies and the heat exchanger was nasty. I should probably charge a bit extra if they haven't been serviced in 3+yrs.

Is the portable power washer in the picture good? Haven't seen one of those before.

Yes mate it does the job ideal for washing out heat exchangers and sumps the end unscrews and pulls off leaving a 8mm pipe which is really handy for tight spots . Cheers kop

I suppose it would depend on fga results 😱 if they’re ok, then it gets left, loads of our stock of Vaillant’s are 10 - 12 years no strip down🤫 it really p****s me off, because I’d love to strip them down, but they’re monitoring costs etc now ffs. Might also be why I’m not the best on fault finding😔

Earth pins mate. Holding the insulation in place. After 9 years would be surprised if they weren’t down to little stubs.

No mate they were in a state bud cleaned up fine , electrodes were a bit bent tried cleaning them bud and straightening em but i changed them in the end they needed doing in all honesty the new spark electrode is different shape now.

My power washer is the 8 litre one H not super powerful but ideal for these jobs and controllable no need to use the customers water .

You just pick it up mate as you go along I did a few manufacturers courses you just get to know the faults on certain boilers, it's often a process of elimination the flow charts in the manual along with the fault codes , it's worth learning how to use a multimeter property aswell , you tube is also useful if you're struggling and as a learning aid . Regards Kop

About 10", benefit of working in an old house 👍

Real mismatch though. 2 houses knocked through into one. 1 side running an old oil heatslave and the other a wood burner running 4 rads.
Taking the wood burner out of service and bringing 2 22mm copper pipes from combi side to run the 4 rads.

Does the filling loop bolt straight onto the sprayer handle or is there a fitting/fittings you use?
No mate remove the standard Lance what these come with the attach a piece of clear polythene tube with a jubilee clip , the connection to the filling loop or rad is a short length of 15 mm pipe warm the ploythene tube insert the tube again fit a jubilee clip then adapt to suit your application. Cheers kop 😉

Thanks, that should save some time on some jobs. Will have a riffle through of my boxes of tubing from my fish keeping days at the weekend, should have something in there that would be do the trick.

A bathroom modification for a elderly gent with a dodgy ticker, believe it or not I installed this 17 years ago when it was first built , I can't believe it was so long ago removed the bath, tiling ect and found loose plasterwork and cement render which had to come off revealing a couple of nasty cracks. These were ground out the whole wall sealed with SBR and repaired with Fisher resin the area was then dot and dabbed with new plasterboard , formed a new boxing to house the first fix shower pipework again plasterboarded ready to fit Multipanel later on , now have a 5 day break so till later chaps 😁😁. That Fisher resin can be an absolute life saver. Used it for the first time a couple of years back when I was trying to fit a vertical rad onto a wall that was made of cheese, none of the various fixings were secure enough so ended up setting threaded rods into the wall using the resin which worked a treat.

Nothing as exciting. First fixing that barrel sink and copper towel warmer.
[automerge]1599829893[/automerge]
That'll do.

It’s looking sharp Simon, is a kind of mixer tap/watering can?

I took hot and cold through double check valves behind barrel, up through the 15mm gate valves for hot and cold taps and then t'd together in wall. 15mm comes out through bottom of watering can and then reduces to 10mm which I managed to direct down through the spout.

Nice one! 👍
Bit more interesting to do than the usual, hard to price that sort of thing though, but I’m guessing an existing customer so do job then send bill?

No new customer. Estimated day and half plus materials. Came in slightly under estimate. Customer pleased and already have to go and look at a couple of bathrooms through her recommendation.

That looks fun 😵

Had the joys of installing a corner basin on job I was on last week on a similarly square wall. Also had to re do the walls where the shower is going as he used cement board off cuts pieced together like a blimin jigsaw puzzle with plenty of huge gaps.

😁 He was long gone by that point, had to point out to developer/landlord that if he refused to get actual whole sheets of cement boards for me to redo it with I wouldn't be able to guarantee the work. Good thing I did as the joker had also missed out the insulation on one side.
