I have a insurance job to try and rescue a poorly installed quad shower the customer wants to save the tiling if possible and has a few spare so fingers crossed it may work , the loss adjuster allowed em £1500 that will just about cover materials. Kop

Little kitchen back splash. Nothing but hassle. Between sparks and plaster it's well screwed.

Boxes sticking too far out the wall. No rubber grommets. Not enough cable to get the tile behind properly. Pulled socket away from wall and live and earth pop out knocking cooker hood lights off.

Sick as a chuff.

From the photo, the cable seems long enough, but they haven't trimmed the sheathing, so it's all very tight.

The irony is that you are being responsible in not wanting to meddle with the wiring as you aren't a sparkie, but whoever wired that rubbish was quite happy to leave it like that. Nice cheap sockets too?

Aye bad photo from me it's the fused spur in bottom corner of first pic.

Here it is with the tiles just in behind.

Apparently sparky was a "friend" of the customer.

What was the complaint, pis5 poor flow rate or noise? 😉

Should have been a bit of both. Water was dizzy.

Just a continuation of works from earlier in the week.

Now having to redo whole floor and tidy up pipework under the bath.

Oh and fit a new shower, create new bath panel.

Originally it was vanity basin, wc, enclosure, shower tray out. Patch up tiles and fit new tray, enclosure, toilet and wc.

Now it's new shower, new basin in different location, smaller tray and enclosure, new toilet moved over 18", new towel rail and pipework, re tile floor, tile where bits missing and redo the whole floor.

Onwards and upwards.

Nearly Friday 🍻🍻🍻👍

Been servicing this boiler for the last 6 years but recently it's developed a series of problems, it wasn't installed vey well and the builders were not the best and didnt finish off very well , I've upgraded to a Ideal Vogue 32kw with their halo control which is very similar to a nest so far quite impressed , finishing off today upgrading the gas removing a redundant section, fitting a new rad and altering some poorly fitted pipework then cleaning the system.

I like the vogue, The fact you cant range rate it, the valves underneath and crappy drain off let it down for me
I used their Halo on this one otherwise or it's weather comp or connected via open therm with a combi pack 4 which ever suits best , added my own drain point and there's one on the filter, valves aren't the greatest but ok if there used and moved and freed up, it's now completed the warranty and paperwork to do and print happy days 😉👍. Kop

Well, you can hardly expect him to bend the wood around the flue! 🙂
No excuse needs a 45° elbow rolled out the flue elbow not 2 - 90° elbows bet its all he had ? Bracketing is not right either and the flue needs a fall back to the boiler, slack boilers in lofts my pet hate 😠👍. Grumpy tired kop 😂

It’s gotten worse before it’s gotten better 😀

All done not the way I would of like to do it but it’s all safe

Yep looks like it mate someone has been trying to seal something up at some stage 🙁 I'd of had to change that I couldn't of put it back the same way but its safe so hey ho, what you working on bud you never seem to post much about your day we could probably all learn a bit from you about boiler repair tips things to look out for common faults ect don't be shy 😉🤣 kop

Yep and whole flue system was replaced 3 elbows, stnd horizontal flue, m extension and the top flue gasket on the boiler

Plus a new condy trap as the last f&(!r had lost it

I’m off in a week so will try to put something together 👍

My weeks are very similar mate, really mundane. Being the warmer weather too, I’m on landlord safety checks. I highly doubt I can teach anything as I work on primarily 2 model of boilers - Vaillant Ecotec Pro and Intergas Eco RF - most common faults I get on either - room stat too low or customer has ran out of gas, and don’t know how to reset meter/boiler.

Vaillant's suffer from mainly Diverter’s (leaking or letting by), F75’s and PCB’s.

Intergas - mostly low water pressure sensors, blocked expansion hose (dirty systems), ignition leads.

The other boilers I have worked on, but infrequently, Worcester combi’s, Baxi Neta-tec, potterton performa, potterton ultra. (All combi’s).

Currently feeling apathetic and possibly have low self esteem. I’ve forgotten a lot of basics, and just winging everything else. I’m at a stage in my life where I don’t know what to do. I bet you’re glad you asked now 😂

No I'm not mate it's good to get it out at least you know you have a problem but it's only you who can change that, our trade can and is a lonely one at times I often spend weeks in bathrooms with only the radio for company, I have to agree if I spend to long servicing or on breakdowns I find it quite boring and mundane getting access to properties, parking , dealing with landlords or estate agents shortage of spares stocked locally always means hassle and another visit sometimes two and often I haven't the time, but it's a valuable service and very important so you shouldn't be doubting your self worth , post some pictures of things you come across in your day don't really matter what? that way you can interact with more of us boiler problems can be tricky to diagnose especially if you don't do much of it but a picture or two of before and after a repair and what you did may help one of us on here or a younger member and you are reaching out to more members on here , now give yourself a kick up the ars- find a hobby or interest this life is it mate it's not a practice the time fly's by and it's not healthy to carry on as you are so rather than back slapping us let's see more of what you're doing ok bud . I'd do Boiler Servicing and Repairs, system troubleshooting all day long tbh. However most of mine are nice customers, we do very few landlords reports so that's a big bonus. There's just not enough money in them for us, with the hassle of getting access and that.

Bathroom's tbh I hate, and we've got loads of them to do. Just on a 3 weeker two man job at the minute. Then i've got another 6 to do before the year is out.

That’s me done on this one can tell the x to f I’m done

Vaillant 838. Not a pretty job, a few setbacks with the stop tap not working fully made it a rushed finished.

I have a 10 year old rems.
I get fittings from Williams, usually aqua gas but I only use it occasionally for speed or is there’s water or a quick repair due to cost of fittings.

What’s all the wires for by um guessing the sink ?
They're for the UFH controller and Fuse Spur for the Towel Rail. They're going in the back of the vanity out of the way and sight and reach.

They didn't want anything on show in the bedroom. They've got some Silk wallpaper that cannot be damaged as it's something ridiculous to replace and damages easily. And they don't want any Switches or Stats on show full stop. The bathroom who have supplied the lot really should of advised them better, already had to swap the UFH stat for one they can remote program off their phone.

That’s always the case they want to just sell what’s the outlet and control by the toilet ?

They're having an arse washer 🙄😂 No they aren't foreign either!

Don't get it, everything else is thermostatic but that. Raised it with the suppliers and customer but they say thats the norm. Love to see their face when they burn their arse off 🤣

Last of 2 services today that's me done for 7 days off to sunny Espana to recharge the batteries, a busy summer workload planned on my return . Regards all kop

I haven’t been doing much this week as my dad passed away on Saturday 😢 I went in Monday, but it was too difficult.
Only just registered this. Sorry to hear it mate. I was at my Grandads funeral last Wednesday. Never a nice time. Hope that you are ok?

Had some cracking nights in there. We stayed in Fuengirola, but one of the lads was thinking of moving out there after he retired from the police. We did a lot of touring about after golf. He was keen on Nerja. Some really lovely spots down there.

Cheers Simon hope you're soon over it mate our game takes it toll on you get well buddy.

Started this one this week

Toilet moved over 5” eg left to give you more space due to 800 tray this also allowed us to lower the tray 5” due to existing drainage being above ground now it’s under the suspended floor

Re adjusted hot and cold under the floor due to bath being / hiding the main runs as they normally do

Moved towel rail over 11/2”

Re did the block wall (existing plaster was blown anyway) to match new tray

Mostly been on safety checks this week, but just had this beaut on call. Boiler 6 months old, but being Friday Vaillant wouldn’t attend until following week earliest. Engineer before me said he replaced the main pcb, said it must be display pcb as definitely power to main pcb. Bear in mind, boiler has worked fine for 6 months, only went off today, no other work carried out in property.

See if you work out the fault before I divulge 😉

No neutral to the boiler ?
Yes, spot on (ok probably easy for a seasoned engineer like yourself and the photo evidence 😂.)

So, possibly another easy one, how did it work ok for 6 months, with no other work carried out? I could also get it to work today 😉
