The dangerous thing about it is he follows me round asking questions "learning" for the future!
ill admit, people like this do worry me!

So, have you told him the secret way of fixing gas pipe with duck tape, or how he can get hot water for free by wiring the mains to the HW pipes? Go on, I dare ya! :cowboy:

photo-27.JPGSorry for the poor images.
Two cisterns on the roof of a London hostel supplying water for I think it was around 40 persons along with this there was photo-28.JPG flexy heaven, an un-vented cylinder with no controls apart from the T&P, oh & a gas leak that they were informed was within acceptable limits even though you could smell it !!
Still no need to stop these people "practicing" plumbing, a.

Theirs a plant growing out of the bottom cwsc and you would have to be above average height to read the pressure gauge on the cylinder!

I think they said it was called Hydroponics either that or a roof top garden !!

& I believe you are right Crinkmeister, I think the engineer said the cylinder was not being used now the combi had been installed but hay why bother to strip it all out, just leave it a in place but not used !!!
You could not make the stuff up that was found on this job.

Ye gods! They must have to try so hard to make the installation look awful!

Anyway, what's a vave? Oh I know - it's what you do go avay - vave goodbye!!

External oil combi. What you see are the F&R to a granny flat 30yards from the boiler. The ground water around that hep was lovely and warm!!

Not only have they buried it they have sand and cemented it in place!!
that should stop the pikies nicking it......wait they don't steal plastic.

Does look like sand and cement but actually that's just muddy water. Both pipes just run about a foot underground, not even sleeved or insulated. Brilliant job.

I have to replace a similar set up in October, they asked why their house isnt that warm but the boiler in the garage 20metres away is working ok !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would have been a lot worse if copper pipes, I suppose!
Putting heating pipes into damp ground is just like an indirect cylinder with coil inside it - instant heat transfer.
Laughable that someone with that install will say that they are changing to gas because oil heating is very expensive.

The tray was installed and sealed less than two weeks ago.

No wonder there was a water feature in the kitchen when they showered!

They had put the enclosure up and then sealed the tray upto the enclosure. For the sake of 10 seconds work they ballsed the job up. So lazy!

Yes, tray butted up against porcelain tiles.

That wouldn't have been a problem if it was sealed properly though.

It's still not right though should be chased into the wall with about am 8 mm plus overlap of tiles. Not that the customer will be interesting in getting it done properly now though 🙂

to be honest i would have no problem with what theyve done there some times you have to use a bit of ingenuity and to be fair it looks like its done the job for a fair time
agree that the cysten is pants but who knows what was there first or how much the plumber told the customer how stupid it was

Gas leak detected by BG. They suggested re pipe. I suggest it's the melted speed fit and flexible conn

Condensate pipe, high level discharge, no soak away or lime chippings, but at least it terminates 500mm from the building.

Can't seem to get picture up on this page, have tried everything until the PC was going to be launched. May be someone can pm me and tell me how to

Unfortunately my hydrangeas have turned pink the last couple of years and they are too far away to run the condensate pipe out.
I'll just have to get the spade out and go get some peat

Btw. if they were near enough i WOULD run the condensate to them

You need to think out the box

Apparently rhododendrons an azaleas love a bit of acidic water (so google tells me). Money maker, collect it and sell to the local garden center.

In fairness to them, they followed install instructions......

That's weird! A tray siliconed against tiles is not a good job. That drawing doesn't make sense.
What I do agree with is it states the doors will not fit if tray is too far tiled over, but surely doors for shower trays should not be so big so that all the shower tray width is needed?
