probably about a year ago deadenders did a CO story. The boiler on the wall looked like a cardboard box with some painted on pilot lights ( think there were 2 / 3 lol) and some pathetic streaks of muck what looked like skid marks. The BBC budget at the time must have been well and truly screwed tight.

before everybody starts taking the **ss .. I DO NOT WATCH IT, HONEST

The next episode featured Ian Beale fitting a new gas boiler lol...

i had massive problem few weeks ago with one of these i posted up here and not one helped me lol. hardly any hot water and the rads were not heating up well

Coil at base heats store coil at top delivers hot . Headder is for the store. Not an amazing performer.

Initially looks like an open vent cyl with two DHW drawoffs.

It's not big enough for house and boiler struggles

when i first saw it, Totally confused me with two pumps. bad side boiler is allways on. and takes 1 hour and half to heat the full thing back up

how many of you would service this? Ideal Concord installed in 1977, been there 3 hours today, cleaned all, plus replaced case seal and pump, but not giving it much longer. Looked like chimney sweep afterwards, bloody thing

I went to change a 2 port valve and the homeowner explained he wired the original S Plan System himself, believe it or not he was actually proud of this! Tried not to laugh!

one thing ive been amazed at since i started doing social housing is the state of the electrics to boilers and controls wires taped together and rammed up the back of boilers y plans wired inside a single plaster board back box and the clock on the front mostly hanging out the wall due to the weight and movement of using the clock, boilers wired with cable straight out of the plasterb
when i started noting them on cp12's i was told its nothing to do with gas safety

Wrong test nipple in meter

Ah, memories! Had two floor standing unit heaters in a factory unit once, place had been empty for some years and new occupiers had got units running but were complaining about smells. Didn't know when they'd last been serviced either (reckon they'd just gone in and switched them on). Turns out chimney terminal had gone from one and heat exchanger had rotted out so fumes were going straight back into the unit. Shut it off and cleaned up the other one and sorted it out but it was on borrowed time!

I don't think my wife would agree to that. Especially after the Froday night Genius session. 😀

With all the room available why put it over the lid that I need to remove? Not to mention using an olive compression fitting on white waste overflow pipe.

More worrying parallel thread on ballafix on to parallel iron fitting, or is it just the ballafix, or is it a candidate for hall of shame and RIDDOR reportable offence, what ever.

Ingenious use of an old boiler flue to run an extractor fan. Approx 4 metres straight up to peak of roof. Funnily enough it doesn't work

Same roof they have re routed the soil pipe by means of a dryer hose around some botched loft flooring. Very little to support it and they can't understand why the flashings moved and they now have a serious leak. image.jpg

Until I got there, this was being used to make the tea in a very upmarket designer clothes shop! Perhaps not bad workmanship as such, but is a lesson to leave the lid on and roof door shut! The pigeons seemed to be having a field day.

That's just the beginning, the whole house is a nightmare.
The guy strenuously denies it but I'm sure he's done this himself!

My other halves uncle is like that. Always telling him not to touch his boiler but he just can't comprehend the harm. I've told him now if he keeps "fiddling" I will not fix it
