are some people actually gas safe or. there was a gap in the flue of about 1/2 inch between that piece and the elbow and the blow off was running up. we fixed the problem and reported it to gas safe.

image.jpgJust to left of the slate, there's a pipe peeping out. That's the condensate of a pump!

image-12.jpgHere is a good one, just come through on my mail they are asking us to confirm what is wrong with it, might be a tad easier & quick to say what is right !!!
Here is the best bit, can any one guess where it is installed ?

I kid you not!!!, all the details & email address checks out but still think I am being had.
If it is
genuine, suggestions please as to how I should reply.

Full email reads -
Dear Sirs,
From your website I know that you do not service north-west London nevertheless I would be most grateful for your advise on badly installed Megaflo 145DD cylinder (image attached).
Apparently there are three major issues that need correcting:

1. no inlet group installed
2. no drain of valve
3. distance from D2 of the pipe to the elbow is too short (300 mm required)

Could you please confirm that this is indeed the case and also, what would be the approximate cost involved. I would like to have an independent assessment before I start looking for a local plumber.

Even if it is "true" the guy wants you to diagnose all the problems so he can get another idiot in to sort them out on the cheap! What a plonker!

It looks carp, but the water will flow better through that than elbows.

Customer called to have damp patch on wall investigated.

Went in to loft to find condensate pipe from boiler lashed into cast iron s&v pipe. Not sealed in & fall on pipe away from where it enters s&v pipe, nicely dripping back down into the room below!

All work done by a GSR, just too lazy to do it properly!

Saw this whilst I was doing a boiler service. The customer was rather proud of the job that was done with the bathroom. It's times like this I just nod in agreement.

Agreed. With saniflo there is a 10 golden rule page on the web, grundfos ipage is harder to find and the rest don`t tell you. Thankfully if is not the first two I walk away.

Had a callout to a house, nice place, in fact VERY nice place. Two oil-fired stacked boilers, top one leaking and filled up bottom one ruining the burner. This is what it looked like inside :33:

Topboiler.jpg

Sealed system, expansion vessel totally :nono:/full of water, high limit pressure switch held together with electrical tape and NO SAFETY VALVE! I wonder why it failed after only 17 years? :clown:

Best bit: the top boiler had a new burner. Owner (who's not short of a bob or three) wants top burner fitted to bottom boiler and top one disconnected and left. Fine at the moment, but come the winter and the heating and HWS is a lot more than one boiler can cope with he'll be moaning that he wants a new one installed pronto!

Same property.. may as well run that condensate in copper, with some compression elbows in side and a wee bit over flow pipe too... all van spares used 🙂

So what are you saying Ermi, you work 1 -1/4 days a week for a weeks pay.
This site gives you free advertising - what have you got to complain about?

As for your choice of materials - I would be conversing with the manufacturers of your choice and ' declaring' that you have promoted their products on a popular plumbing forum and have had over 2000 post regarding the work that you do and the materials used!!!

You could be on a real winner here.

I wish I was in your boat
My work is nowhere up to your standards

Unfortunately for me - my miserable claim to fame is that I installed a new product over her and the manufactures came out to look at the installation - took photos for their 'records' and did some testing.

Next thing - my install is in their brochure and all over the web.

I wish I had the fame and possible fortune you have awaiting you

Oz

Forgot to take pic of the flue, it had the rubber collar on but massive gaps round the outside right back in to the house!

I used it a few days ago on a stainless threaded union.
Was high pressure (50bar) and it helped the spiggot end glide in and acted like lubricant.

Before that the threads were binding and picking up.
But just 1 turn of ptfe did it
Never usually bother with it in general.

That pics class lol

D1 is a bit over 300mm? Looks good tho but why two two ports on supply or is one a 3 port?

Ooh other one Aav below top of coil?

Well I'm presuming a 1 pipe system. Either that or it's just capping leaking valves. I'm not thinking straight. Mmmmmmm beeeeeer
