Emmeti Wall Hung Manifold

Hi,

I am refurbishing a new house and will to get some advice on how to set up the heating.

I am looking at the Emmeti Manifold for both wall hung rads and UFH.

My initial plan was to have

• one Emmeti Type 2 LS manifold to control 7 rad on the first floor
• one Emmeti Type 2 LS manifold to control 5 rads on ground floor
• one Emmeti Floor Mixing Unit with Type 2 FM manifold to control 3 UFH heating zones on ground floor.

I was recommended a Valiant 637 System Boiler will a 300L Megaflo and was going to place this in the loft.

The house is an old Edwardian house with high ceilings (3m)

Do i need to install place a Low Less header as well to keep the boiler not having temperature shocks as each zone/room can call for heating when required?

Will the boiler pump cope with this? Do i need to install a FirstBox with additional pump?

Any other advice will be greatly appreciated.

This is way to much technical stuff to deal with in a plumbing forum, we can't do whole house designs here, someone needs to be onsite & talking through your needs, thats all part of the work of a good plumber / heating engineer.

If you can't find one who seems to understand fully what you are talking about then you need to employ a consultant who can provide you & the plumber with some info / designs & of course those vital insurances that mean if there are any problems you have some comeback.

Seen too any expensive jobs that do not work because someone either does it themselves or employees the cheapest plumber, thinking this will save them loads, often its on refurb's like this that are worth millions, not much good at the end of the day if they don't have a fully working heating/hot water system!!!

Thank Guys and I do appreciate that this is very technical.

I have had 4 plumbers come in to give quotes, all varying in different components and I appreciate there are many ways to skin a cat.

One plumber said have a pump for each manifold(UFH and Rads), other said boiler pump will suffice for wall rads but have pump for UFH, one said get a Firstbox Flow for Low and high temp distribution, and one said get a Low Less header. The variations goes on.

I am a not trying to do this on the cheap, I like to understand what going to be installed in my house and why. Hence why I am asking for advice from you experts.

So you need to employ a mechanical consultant to do your designs otherwise it is take a punt on one of your plumbers, I would check that they have indemnity insurance against their designs if I were you!

BTW don't go with the one who said the "boiler pump will suffice for wall rads but have pump for UFH" bet he was the cheapest cos it won't work.

No he was high priced and was the one who recommended the Low Lesser Header.

Oooo and don't get me started on plumbers doing gas, he says !!!

It's all in the training Worcester I think you will agree but I concede that with your side it is becoming more difficult to stay breast of it all.

I draw the line when I heard the other night on here most of the forum plumbers telling RPM that could not do his work, plumbers not doing drainage work, whatever next. :nono:

2 things . 1. Boiler and cylinder are crap 2. They all wrong

Decent boiler with WC blending set controlling water to LLH, manifold off LLH pump to the rad cluster
Pump to the ufh blending valve then on to manifold.

Cylinder - acv, joule or a center store.

I would suggest a viessmann v200 or a ideal vogue.

Tailored Heat Supplies ..... PI for design of UFH and WHR Combined system , they are also a champion of the Emmeti product and have been working for a number of years with these products.
PS Emmeti s the European leader when it comes to manifolds so I have to say its a wise choice Plus its refreshing to see a UK conversation about manifold based plumbing. We are lagging behind Europe and the rest of the word. Isolation & Control .... and prevention to leaks ( Far better then Cure ) In my experience...
