at long last i have renewed my boiler, the dreaded isar has gone before it finally gave up the ghost, i got it free from ideal about 6 ys ago as we were fitting loads of them, TBH we didnt really have many problems with them, was that luck or the fact we fitted them properly, anyway, my own got a new pcb at Christmas 09, and a new user control a few months ago, but it was only a matter of time before something else went, and over the last few days the user control didnt have a display, changed the user control for a spare one but no diff, ideal said the contacts on the board were shot and would need to be changed, at £190 incl VAT i decided to change the boiler, so i changed it tonight for a Glen Dimplex 30 combi, seems ok, 5yr parts and labour warrenty so not too bad, i fitted a TF1 as well as the system and rads are quite old, i also put a ltr of sentinal x400 in it last week, so hopefully all will be ok, it was very easy to fit, the boiler was above the worktop but had the tumble drier under it so great access to alter pipework, the pipes were laid out the same as the ideal so only req'd a wee offset on each, started at 5.30pm and was finished at 10pm, well chuffed for an old guy who doesnt work for a living i will clean the TF1 a few times and see how clean it is,

I hope you took a large hammer to the Isar before scrapping it 🙂

its still sitting in the drive, if the pikeys dont lift it i may consider setting fire to it or something, any ideas welcome, i could film it for a laugh

have you got a 4x4 you could drive over it slowly just to see how much weight it would take whilst being filmed for utube.
