Ray Stafford

Ok, so I have put on a pound or two, after giving up smoking. Well, maybe a couple of stone.

I am now considering a major weightloss challenge, if other members are up for a bit of competition.

Who fancies a bit of a bet? Real money stakes, and real life policing of the rules, live on UKPF.

All profits and losses to charity.

Interested? Reply or PM me.

Ray

15 and one half stone, 6 foot and obese is the name, need to hit 12 really but the last time I achieved that was via gasteroenteritis!!!

Yeah, I'm game.

Not sure what I weigh now but it's probably around 15 stone. Want to get down to 11 or 12.

I'm 5'7" 13 and a half stone, so need to do something as the doc told me cholesterol was 7.3 last week, which is way way too high, all monies to children's charities

You gotta be more than 7 stone pal. Only girls and elves weigh 7 stone ha ha.

Think I'm about 13 stone. I'll check soon.

my cholesterol was 6.2. Brought it down by having apple cider vinegar. 1 tablespoon before breakfast and another just before bed. give it try for 3 months.....

OK, it looks like we have enough interest to have a contest.

Here's my suggestion for the rules.

Firstly, decide whether you want to play the PRO version ,which may cost you money, or the LITE version which only costs you pride and the last pitiful remnants of what used to be your self esteem.

All weights must be taken in a constant environment - ie on the same scales, at the same time of day and in approximately the same clothing state.

Your starting weight and target weight must be declared between now and midnight on 31st May 2014. Please don't overstate your starting weight - thats cheating and not in the spirit.

Closing weight is 3 months away - on 31st August 2014

The winner is the PRO player who both makes their target weight AND loses the highest percentage of their original weight. If they don't make their target weight, then they can't win. The winners prize is to nominate their favourite charity.

Every losing PRO player who made their target weight donates £25 to a charity nominated by the winner. Every losing PRO player who fails to make their target weight donates £50 to the nominated charity. We can do this with a just-giving page, so there will be full transparency if anyone welshes.

Its up to you if you want to post updates.

We work on an honour system, but anyone doesn't believe the winner's claimed weight, they may challenge it, and an independent member of the forum living nearby can go and verify it. A failed challenge costs another £25 in the pot, but a successful challenge eliminates the winner, and they have to then pay double what they would have paid (either £50 or £100) to the charity named by the new winner.

Any dispute is ruled on by whichever of the mods are not participating.

How does that sound?

I'm not playing. It's way easier for all the fatties to drop massive amounts of weight!!!

I'd be a loser and not the way intended

According to NICE, national institute for clinical excellence more than 4% loss isn't any good for you

I'm in for the PRO. I have an added incentive as my weight is gradually increasing due to the quacks putting me back on the steroids. But with the amount of garbage i eat i can see massive room for improvement just on the diet side. Im about seventeen and a half stone at the minute and want a real challange. So i would be over the moon to get below sixteen stone.

lets keep this in imperial please, no metric, most of us dont do metric

not overweight at 5 ft 8" and 11.5 stone but i keep getting buiscuits off ray as i buy a few boilers so weights going up LOL

Doc told me that there's no correlation between weight and cholesterol. I had mine checked and it was 5.1, it worried me, but the doc said it was fine. A lad I know who's like a rake has a level of 6.3 and is on tablets.

What did the doc advise to try ad reduce it?

Change diet, no butter, no fatty meats, drink those wee yoghurt type drinks every day, no white bread, no choccy, and exercise

OK, my official declaration in 16st 3lb.

I'm in for the PRO option and my target for 31st Aug is 14 st 7lbs.

Thats just under 2lb a week or a few oz per day. That has to be do-able.

And my charity is Naomi House Childrens Hospice

I can see a news paper headline soon "Plumber found in empty house nailed to the floor by his scrotum", no witnesses, and he wasnt found for several days hence his loss in weight 🙂

Can I make a suggestion. Rather than weight or bmi why don't you do body fat percentage. Muscle is heavier than fat so just going by weight is not a true indication.

^^^^^^^^^ this.

This is exactly why I'm going by waistband.

When I played rugby I was declared clinically obese. I had hardly any fat on me in those days. I could've lifted the doctor and run round the hospital with him on my shoulders without breaking sweat.

Mind you, was 20 odd years ago!

That's my exact point bmi is flawed! 14 stone of muscle is a lot smaller than 14 stone of fat!

Every one taking part get a set of these. Photos can then be taken and posted

Use calipers to measure bf% can pick them up for about £10 on amazon probably less. Another tip, download myfitnesspal app and then enter all your stats, height weight etc and then your goal and it will calculate your required calorie intake etc. you can then do a food diary, enter everything you eat and it adds up calories fats proteins etc for you and tells you how many you have left over or by how many you've had too much by. Great app IMO
