Salus are really hitting the market now. There plug in kits are awesome easy to install and very user friendly.
Had any problems Steve?Ah, controls,,,,all down to the end user, the only one with 5 Year warranty is......Delta Dore 🙂
the only thing i find poor on the ideal is the plastic flue parts/ clamp. The boilers themselves seem to work very well and have been getting a good rep.
worcesters are nice boilers imo, i have fitted plenty over the last few years without any problems at all and there customer service is top notch. They will even fix a boiler fault under warrantee which is down to sludge in the system once without complaint.
us installers can be very opinionated about these things as one bad experience and we tend to advise others to avoid at all costs. You have to take things in prespective really.
by the way avoid baxi GA boilers, they are pants.......... infact pants with skid marks in them. 🙂
Surprised by the big anti Worcester feedback!
Iv rarely had any problems, plus worcester are brilliant if there any issues under warranty! 5 or 7 year guarantee! I bet the logic 5 year guarantee is not worth the paper it's written on!
Plus Worcester scored highest above vaillant in which recent reliability scores !
Just put another logic in today. Love everything about that boiler, even down to the fact that there's no polystyrene in the box so it will fit in the customers recycling bin easy. Really well thought out.
You say scary quotes.Give some idea of price and where you are based and we can give you some idea of whether the quotes are reasonable. Is it a straight forward swap ,boiler going back in same place ? Any pipework changes etc.If the Ideal fits your requirements and means less issues with flue and repair of brickwork it might well be OK to choose it for that reason. Is there much difference between the guarantees?New to forum and first time post, appending to old thread rather than start a new one.
I have a 20 year old Ideal Classic boiler that failed the annual gas service last week after the engineer found two sheared off screws seized in the flue hood. Now can't reseal the fan, part no longer available (I've checked with Ideal), new boiler required.
I've had a couple of scary quotes, with recommendations for either a WB 18Ri, or an Ideal Logic Plus 18KW. The boiler price is very similar, but am not sure which way to go. The WB has a 7 year warranty, and I always thought they were good boilers until I started reading this thread. The Ideal I've had has been pretty good - been in the house 10 years and only had a PCB replaced, other than that no problems.
There are other issues between the two around the flue outlet and brickwork required, which leans me further towards the Logic plus, but I read quite a few IDEAL horror stories and dislikes on other pages before finding this forum.
Guess I'm just looking for a little more advice to sway me the right way. Grateful for any feedback.
thanks

i would go ideal logic all day before fitting a Worcester, but that's my preference. Also i can offer a 7 year warranty on ideal logic plus same as Worcester.
