shocking work there Plum bob, had these people not heard of Fischer bolts and silicone to sort the sink?
and why not bother to plumb in the bath while they are there and the use of a flexi for the cistern?
why would one not bother to pipe it up properly using a iso and tap connector?

Its people like this who ruin it for the majority!

Because they were a useless bunch of sharp pointed instruments who clearly took advantage of someone who was in a very vulnerable state.

What sort of governess that? ( regulator to the younger guys)

Looks like an old Parkinson Cwan and is probably fkd. They have a problem with the spindles breaking letting the gas through at full pressure. Report it to the ESP if you see one and they will come out and change it.

why do kitchen fitters assume they are bonafide competant plumbers? i mean that looks awful. i hate those rigs anyway, i got a 1.5 sink in my kitchen, i plumbed them up using two traps both joined in via a swept tee to one 40mm pipe.

now both sinks have a trap meaning no smells can eminate from either bowl. takes up a but more room under the sink but not that much to notice! and it will never leak!

that's exactly how i do them too

two traps into one pipe? so what stops the danger of one pulling the other ?dont tell me you run the pipes up hill slightly to get some run back you sure your not both kitchen fitters?

i was in a custards house when i first came up with brain wave, custard had kitchen fitted but declined the use of the fitters plumbing skills, so called me in... anyway he said the sink came supplied with that nasty crap fitting as featured in a pic above, he asked me what alternatives i could come up with.

anyway 10 mins spent in back of van and with two traps one with a spigot for D/W and one without and one 1.5" swept tee and bingo job done. i was so impressed with my idea, i went home and repiped my sink lol!

because the trap on half bowl is deeper than one one sink, which can pass alot more water than half bowl, deeper trap prevents vacuum suction!

Im a plumb, i work with tubes and copper and plastic - i dont do wood unless its to support my pipes, i never fit kitchens its not my cuppa T lol

Saw a discharge pipe on the side of a house earlier with an iso' valve on. Couldn't get pics though as I'd have looked like a peeping Tom. The side of the house was freshly painted so I assume it was 'randomly spewing water' and the iso was fitted to make the painter's job easier.

Always wondered why we didnt use those tap style wall iso's here tbh.

The vast majority of plumbers would probably love to use them but it would mean using flexi connectors to attach to them as they are designed for.
God forbid that the majority on here would want to upset the half dozen " Glitterati " on here that hate flexies.
Guess we will just be the sheep and do as we are told and keep those pesky foreign things out of our country.

Thing is, here, a burst flexi means a new kitchen ceiling in most instances. Over in Europe where the have their heads screwed on, most ceilings are concrete, the floors are all tiled and in many cases have a gully in them, and if a flexi does go, there's a convenient tap on the wall to turn off the supply. Not a crappy iso valve.

I love flexis used hundreds and hundreds

Never seen so much crap under a bath, even left his trowel ,roll of denso and the best one a towel under waste to catch drip off off overflow.no wonder he boxed bath in lol.

Apologies for the terrible quality but I was drunk. This is from a pub lounge - and that's the best part of the install. 'Plastic fantastic', 'who needs clips' etc...

i might have to do this over a few posts as there are several photos as i dont have access to the property the pics are a bit naff this is a house in 15 flats which was converted about 7 years ago i did tell the corgi inspector at the time about it but he just shrugged his shoulders
the meters are obviously under the pavement in the cellars and i cant see how many bends are involved and the services go to both side of the building and i could only photo one side i counted 15 bends visible on one service which is probablyclose to 45IMAG0051.jpgm long no sleves on any where they exit the slabIMAG0055.jpg and no flues made good above 1st floor

is that 22mm gas pipe? doesnt an elbow add 0.5 mtrs of resistance to a gas run as in its like adding another half meter of pipe work to a run.

And on such a large run shouldnt that be in 28 or even bigger in LCS? then down into 28 -22 - 15mm to boiler??

I know im not GSR but im trying to get my GSR ticket, so i may not be right but surely im not far off the mark?

Thats shocking though!

neat pipework even though they did the devils work and used 135 degree end feed elbows........:reddevil:..

got a call out to attend a flooded bathroom well here is the reason why: - the soil pipe and its boss shown here:

20130711_102550.jpg

After donning my drysuit and snorkel, i waded in and had a fight with the boxing that was bodged in place that had also swollen so much it was wedged in place.

Turned out that this pipe also served the basin and bath, however the bath trap is 2 inches lower than the boss in the soil stack.

hence why it pulled out - the weight of the water has obviously pulled the pipe out of the rubber boss and it snapped the plastic bath waste, so when plug was pulled water went everywhere but down the drain.

I informed the new homeowner of this, and they are gonna get the insurance to pay for my remedial works and for me to fit a new bathroom.

Now this was a house converted into a flat by the previous owner, and guess what this was a general room. but were building control informed as per the regs - No. shame as this could have been prevented.

previous owners happy sold and done a runner, needed a proper survey or get in a decent builder/plumber to look before parting with 1000s of readies as surveyers normally miss anything under a carpet, even if theres no carpets!!!!!!!!!!

yeah dont i know it, i cant belive knowing the age of this house that originally it would not have had a downstairs bathroom (its an old victorian 3 storey converted into 3 flats.) and therefore would the surveyor have known to check to see if building control had been notified of the works?

Them 1"1/2 clips must be expensive ..... Two clips and this would have never happened and that rubber reducer on the boss ....... Tc tc tc tc

External Grant Vortex. 4 metres of 22mm F&R and plastic fill all clipped along outside wall with very gappy thin wall insulation. Fill end up inside boiler with loop on the end, connected of course. Lovely, quality job.

Feed to pump comes out of the tank at too much of an angle resulting in the tank splitting.

Result, new tank and kitchen ceiling.

Custard hadn't actually realised anything wrong here, it's only 8' off the ground but in 5 years, they'd never noticed it. Should have seen inside the boiler too (oil)...
