This beauty has now been removed and the boiler replaced in a more sensible location with correct flue.

ripped out this ravenheap today, fitted by a local halfwit gsr, crap work, condensate looks crap, its a attempt to create a trap, dont know why,the boiler has a internal one ,its not sealed at the top of the 40mm,flue was also not sealed either end of the wall, thats rock wool making good FFS,flue pulled apart in my hands, and yes BG had been looking after it,though i am not slagging BG it is after all down to the engineers judgement

Mates doing his kitchen up, popped round to see how he's doing, said he turned gas off cause he could smell gas, wonder why lol, lucky was in me van. Stripped out and capped off till I can get him the bits he needs Monday. Think previous owner of the property loved DIY looking at all the other shoddy work that's gone on.

1987 build and they installed Cat5 and Voice over IP heating diagnostic on systems as simple as a y plan .

Awesome .

got called out to a county school water peeing eveywhere, opened the pannel to find most joints had pop or pulled out and this is what i found, little side note this was done by a plumber and not a builder.

Unvented under unit heater and the coil is extending the distance to the first stop tap, so no expansion vessel required.

Awesome, will have to remember that just in case, you never know!

the original installer phoned me up to say why he had put the loop in and they reason was it all wouldn't fit if he had used an pressure vessel and the other kit, so 1 day later and i sent him these pics back 😀 saying you said what wouldn't fit, never had a response tho

mods if not allowed plz remove

Didn't realise I'd been doing it wrong all these years chip board on brick walls walls.

You do really have to wonder about some so called professional tradesmen.DSC_0059.jpg

feeding a 105 e,FFS lazy bastids, been like this for 12 years, easy to upgrade the gas, boiler in loft, gas meter 40 ft below it with a strait external run, which is what we are now doing WP_20150602_001[1].jpgWP_20150602_003[1].jpgWP_20150602_004[1].jpg

Nah. It was a quoted service in a school. Remedials go in a report back to the office for them to issue a quote.

Unless it affects safety or operation in which case it'd be an immediate remedial.

I know its probably a long debated topic, but isn't the plastic potentially popping of and spraying red hot water out a concern for safety?

If you're referring to the corrugated pipe, it's a condense.

The safety discharge pipe was well clipped and secure.

I think he meant the pushfit fittings. Always ambiguous how close to the unit they can get.

Had a survey at a factory to replace their hot water plant. Site manager mentioned that HWS circ was a bit poor, although the pump was running....

You just wonder wot goes through some engineers heads lol

The same thing (in the same place) which says 'lets put in a super mega-sized gas water heater and 100 gallon storage cylinder (which heats up in 3 mins from cold!!!) to serve several basins and a couple of sinks, don't bother to insulate the pipes because it'll keep the factory warm, oh, and while we're at it stick in a couple of booster sets to feed some washdown hoses but chuck in a couple of 100 gallon storage break tanks to feed them with electric immersion heaters to keep the water hot after they've come off the hot water system' :dead:

Why?:dunce:

I'm not sure what goes through some people's minds when they get their tools out.

Cos they just had to find a use for that 135deg 40mm tee they have had in their box for years !!!
O dear it doesn't quite fit, still never mind close enough.

PS. is the air brick some kind of weir overflow or perhaps it's an extract system which removes the foul smells coming from the gully transports them safely under the house & out the other side ?

the pipe dangling down from the boiler (stub about 6") and didnt spot the zone valves

and sorry dont know why its posted twice
It looks like a tectite fitting (copper push fit) a 22mm coupler with a reducer in it.
Don't think it's the gas though. I think the 22mm with the compression or tectite elbows above boiler might be gas but just guessing based on position it finnished below boiler need a shot from below boiler so you can see service valves really.

Looks like it came from an old Cortina. If it works it works. Pity they lost the insert, they were chrome rimmed lol

Was fitted by a RGI less than 12 months ago, job finished he said, lass paid him and wasn't aware of any problems until We went to clear drains today, needless to say no commissioning log or registration.

I remember my dad moaning because my mum had pinched the foil out of his 10 woodbines because a fuse had blown and SHE needed to mend it
