Sent my Anton analyser in for calibration. Have just received an email for bill of £288? I think it would have been cheaper to buy a new one. What a cheek. I think I have to consider using a different company or use Anton. I'm not impressed. The said company has been doing the calibration for the past 3 years, but now I think they're taking the proverbial.

I wanted to swear but croppie held his hand over my mouth, so I can't.

I've just sent mine in, plus I have borrowed one while it's away, plus courier, it's around £120+ at the moment if it needs new sensors, think that's what yours will be, new O2 sensor etc. Soon adds up.

CO cell £75
Carriage both ways £60
O2 sockets £10
Leak probe £80
Service charge £70
Then there is VAT on all that. Madness

love the fact the Kane 455/457 sensor is warrantied for 5 years 🙂

Just had mine done after the 5 years around the 140 mark inclusive of the sensors. Don't use mine every day or even week but the sensors pack up over time regardless. Kane every time for me.

.

Thats what happened to me. 02 sensors, CO sensor. Service. Think i went straight to Anton but might be mistaken. Binned it off and got a Kane. Calibration for Kane is straight to them so no markup.

As an example of difference in companies customer service my gas assessment centre got given Kanes, gets free calibration and get them swapped out if they break. The other analyser companies wouldnt even offer free calibration. Its pretty obvious which one they demonstrate on and which rep comes in to show off their wares.

My 2 got picked up last Thursday, will be getting the testo back NEXT Thursday and my less than a year old Kane has been sent to kane to get checked.... I've learned a painful lesson 🙁

My Anton was picked up on Monday. In as much as they have sent me an email copy of the bill, I'm yet to receive the unit back?
Which company was it as I'm about to send my Anton away and felt last year as if the company had my trousers down.

May not be a good idea to broadcast the name. I'll PM you
Thanks for that got your pm and it's the same company I sent mine away to last year. They changed everything last year at approx £200 when I was under the impression that the sensors had only to be changed every 2 years and it was only 2yeas old - no notice just a large bill. They had done all the same work the year before and it hadn't been used that much, so was surprised. Maybe time to look for somebody else.

You use a company in good faith, then once they believe they've got you where they want, they sting you? Not 4nny.
One thing is for sure, I'll not be using them again. Lesson learned.

thinking of getting a kane myself. i sent mine away last year took 2 weeks to get back off anton. have heard kane are a much better service. only bought anton because thats what i got taught with.

I've got a Testo which needs calibrating but I can't spare it being away at the moment tags it'll be a week minimum I reckon. I put a kane through calibration and 4 months later it was giving funny readings, phoned up and returned it and was back in 48hrs.

I'll swap to a Kane next time I think even though I really don't like the units themselves.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe it to be true. Every time you get your Kane serviced it's warranty is extended for another 12 months, plus they are fixed servicing costs for four years at £84 then fith year at £145.

So really can't be beaten on that.

The only thing I hate and it kills the battery every time you turn the stupid thing on it purges, I want to use the pressure setting on it not the analyser!!!! Another 90 secs of my life wasted! Grrrrr

Yeah if its serviced by kane I think its warranty is 5 years and the cells are guaranteed for 5 years not 2 like alot of the others! Plus the fixed price is a bonus as you know what its going to cost!

Not much love for Testo on here, I have a Testo, it's been okay, it needed sensors last time & I also paid about 320 quid!!

Is just one of those things tho & why we charge X amount for a boiler service!!

My brothers anton v2 came back broken case wouldn't turn on and missing rubber boot that took over a week to come back like that! Returned it another week later it came back repaired and a rubber boot was back on it, needless to say he was not happy, luckily my trusty kane was at hand lol

Just had my testo 310 calibrated, cost was £65 + £12 carriage plus VAT so not to bad. Year three costs £320 though so I'll slap it on eBay and buy a new unit.

Testo only takes 30 seconds to purge :grinningelf:
